3.4L supercharger

Going to try to check on those 2 hoses this afternoon & after work.
The guy I got it from changed the coupler and rear bearings only, he gave me a bag full of other gaskets and bearings, etc.
I thought the same on the fuse wire, tbd
New NGK plugs will be going in soon.

Make sure the spark plugs are a colder heat range than stock. Ik22 if memory serves.
Also Ngk Bkr7e will work. It's a copper plug so wears out quicker. Be sure to gap them down also.

Here are 2 videos from inside. My main concern is pinging or knocking as I ma getting these 2 codes below:
P0325 & P030 - I am going to get out and check plugs, vacuum hoses, etc., it's just been cold and rainy and I don't have a garage.

It doesn't sound good but I don't know what the problem is. Maybe take the belt off and turn the pulley. See if it hangs up or feels rough. All I can think is rotor pack not timed or needs new main bearings. Also spin the pulley on tensioner.

 

Ya I had to ask if that was really the price .50 above 87octane and .40 above 89....crazy. I am now buying 89 octane I spike my fuel with a couple ounces of professional boostane to get my 89 up to around 91. Its cheaper then the around $7.20 per tank to run 91 octane and 1- 32 oz can when you buy 4 at a time is 28 dollars. 1 can will do 16 fillups so it saves about $87.20 over that amount of fill ups. or about $1.75 per tank to turn 89 to 91 I am lucky in my mtn town we have an Indian casino 5 minutes from my house which is usually atleast .50 to a dollar cheaper than in the city because of no state tax on the gas

 

ouch Did you hear, that here in cali they just figured out a .38 cent tax on our gas was supposed to end years ago but they never took it off! They still havnt taken it off! Thanks california!

 

Definitely have bearings issues,
If you keep running it you will have a higher chance of damaging other parts and a bigger rebuild cost.
Don’t run it anymore and have it rebuilt.
You probably need all bearings replaced regardless

 

Yeah, for not ever being around superchargers, I thought it didn't sound right. I went to the junk yard last Sunday and pulled a plenum off a 4Runner. I think when it stops raining I'm going to get out there and try to return it to naturally aspirated. Try to get it running right and rebuild the SC. I found a box in the truck with what appears to be a full SC rebuild kit aside from the 2 rear bearings and the front coupler. The PO told me later when I asked him that he only changed those parts after the powder coat bc he was in a hurry to get it running. The story is becoming clearer i think..

 

Thanks, that test drive to the hardware store about 4 blocks away is the only time I've driven it since getting it home. Hopefully the weather will allow me to pull the SC off this weekend and swap on a stock plenum..

 

This is a brand new SC from Magnuson. Does this have a new style pulley attachment?

 

Yup, new style. No changing pulleys for you.

Is that pulley pressed on then?
You probably could get the older shaft if everything else is the same? To be able to get a smaller pulley,
I bet they use this new design so there is less stress on the supercharger for warranty not being able to go small in size

 

purchase was made at urd but it was a drop ship from Magnuson.

 

Might be a little expensive but always away around this. Machine a new pulley.
