Could be worse, you could be one of our local FDs and absolutely obliterate 5 cars on the freeway.

I'm going to keep both feet planted firmly on the brake so this doesn't turn into a ...

Around here there are jobs everywhere -- good jobs -- nice wage, full time with benefits, even sign on bonuses.

This makes me absolutely livid as I clearly remember being young and going from door to door trying to get in at a decent place to work -- going through hostile interrogation interviews and being ripped apart by hiring managers over every detail of the scant experience on your application -- literally begging for a just half a chance to get in to do any job and prove yourself.

And I was just like hundreds of other young guys trying to get ahead back then -- after all, what kind of girl would date a guy without a car and a good job?

Seems younger folks aren't interested in working too much anymore.

Whew, stepping off soapbox with BP still under 200 -- pretty good for me.

Am I the only person that avoids boxes of snacks like this at current times? Too many guys around sticking their dick-beaters in there. The other day I had to tell one of my co-workers to wash their hands after coming out of the shitter...

Guy told me yesterday to let our agent know we had a new roof, text our agent this morning and he said he will make a note on our policy and it should lower our policy :goingcrazy:

    Donut story.
When we worked on Saturday, the Forman would buy donuts for us.
Being diabetic I couldn’t (well, I could but) eat them so my Forman would buy a plain
    One for me.
A few weeks ago he sent me a text.

    In memory of you !!

I know it’s only a pic of a donut but, it has deep feelings for me…

We did a fair amount of cooking/eating in the Maintenance shop but it was an invitation only kind of thing so very limited participation.

As a 29 year old, I notice this in a lot of my peers: It's not we/they don't want to work necessarily, we've just been conditioned to believe that good job = nice corner office at a white collar gig, and/or "youtuber/influencer" is somehow a job title to be revered. We're part of the first real tech generation, and the stiffest job competition seems to fall in categories that are clean jobs with remote work / partially WFH / t-shirts in the office.

Meanwhile manufacturing/trades/blue collar work isn't appealing, and we're desperate to keep the talent pool filled. I work in industrial manufacturing, and I can count on one hand how many people I work with that are under 45. Sure a run down industrial park isn't a sexy office locale, but the "millenial dream" I've managed to fall into of working 8-4ish and making 6 figures sure is.

COVID boosted the awareness of this trend, but then you look back and realize how potentially gross communal food and a bunch of other practices has always been.

We have an annual department pot luck that after 10 years I have yet to participate in. I've seen some shit.

A box of donuts that from the time it entered the building until it was opened was never more than 20 feet away from me and only 2 of my coworkers had been in, you know I'm taking one!
