That is SWEET. What were they using this trailer for? Overnight Guided trips, protected shuttles?

New Fox 34 came in last night, chomping at the bit to get home and get it installed on the Chameleon. That bike will look like a bag of tropical skittles.

I do. I use the Jenson USA tool, its cheap and I like it more than some of the nicer ones. It slips over the steer tube and guides the tool/star nut so you can be negligent when installing it. :p

You can also make one in a pinch out of a deep socket and M6 bolt and nut through the square drive hole.

Normally I like to garage hack some jobs. Unfortunately I’ve personally set two starnuts cockeyed using ‘work around’ set ups. Caused me more headaches to correct than it should have.

Long story short, sometimes the proper tool is more betterer. The $15 jenson tool @Dr. Doom Says referenced is now in my toolbox.

I agree, and I have since bought the same Jenson tool. But when you have a new fork on the bench, and the tool is backordered, reason sometimes goes out the window.

Oh my bad. I missed the timeliness portion.

If a local shop can’t help you out with something that basic they need to close up shop. If they charge you, anything more than ~$10 would just be wrong of them.

They should have one and be able to install it. Check the box though, all of my forks have come with one in the bits and bobs accessory bag, just a matter of setting it to depth.

Yeah. I agree with @backcountryj . the shop can literally set it for you in less than 15 seconds. or you can ask to borrow the tool and pay them a few bucks for borrowing it on the spot.

I mean, I've gone to shops on trips and they were like, "we can't get to your derailleur hanger". and I just said, "I knwo what I'm doing. can I just borrow the straightener?" and they were cool with it. i dropped a fiver and they were happy. I was happy.

I started with a similar bike. I used it for a year before upgrading. If you end up riding a lot you will outgrow it quickly.

with that said it’s not a bad first bike.
