I heard the notifications of calls in the $500's being ITM were false/edited but who knows.

There was some serious fuckery at play for sure once again, but it clearly didn't end up as bad as the last time it halted. I just don't understand how they can continue to do this crap.

I'm assuming they have algos creating derivatives with "reasonable locates" to match demand on the fly in their dark pools and sell into buying pressure right at the bid, thus keeping the supply of available "shares" in excess of purchase demand and keep the price neutral to slightly negative.

Does that eventually burn them to the ground? Depends on how the derivatives assign liability and how good their records are.

I'm willing to bet their records are not good, and that if the public ever gets under the hood of this mess there's going to be a lot of information about what they did that was just plain destroyed, because the penalties at law are less damaging than the destruction of their entire business model.

Course, that's all speculation.

 

And then they can make a movie about it and promise to fix it....
