I have never seen that one. You must be outside the US.

 

04B24 is available, but 04B25 hasn't been added yet. Might be helpful to meet with a tuner for an ECU read so they can send it over to VFTuner for quicker support, but I'm not positive if we also would still need the TSB for that calibration.

PaPaRee, is there a newer Tune than the KDMAX Pro? I see talk about a Pro+ Tune. What's that?

 

The Pro+ just has the shift points increased about 3-4 mph. Keeps the truck in each gear a little longer. Nothing else is changed. But like I always say, one little change affects EVERYTHING.

PM me if you want it. But you need to be up to date. I only made the files for up to date ECU's. You (2021) would need to be 04c21--We want everyone to be on Toyota's latest update.

I had the kd max-pro sport tune installed last October or so. I've been very happy with it, but one of my complaints was that the sport was a little bit too touchy. I was considering dropping down to the normal or lite tune. That was on the stock Off road tire and suspension. I recently installed larger tires, 265/75/16 KO2's (nominally 32"), and I find the pedal much less touchy. I just wanted to post this because I think tire size, and weight has a decent effect on pedal input. I'm sure someone in here has brought this up, but I didn't notice it when I had my tune done. I'm thinking the sport throttle will be nice for larger/ heavier tires, and normal or lite will be nicer for smaller/lighter tires. And obviously driving styles matter too. my 2 cents.

 

Similar to you I have the pro tune on 33s and a front bumper. I recently installed 5.29s to see if it would help keep it in gear. Put 1200 miles on them so far. Cruising at 70 I’m around 2300rpms in 6th which helps puts the truck more into the power band. I can cruise up a slight incline now without downshifting which is nice BUT the truck will still drop to 5th and cruise at 3k rpm at 65 70 if you have a strong headwind or moderate incline. I wouldn’t use CC as it it still far to sensitive and makes it worse. Honestly I feel gears aren’t worth unless you are going with a super heavy overland setup. I’d keep the Pro tune and call it a day.

 

I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing the VF tuner software and KDmax pro tune....not much luck finding a tuner in my area, so I will be a first timer! I see from some of the videos that a battery tender is used during the process. Can someone recommend one for me?

 

You want a NOCO genius 10. You can find them on Amazon, be sure to put it on supply mode so you have constant power to the battery while updating your TSB & flashing the tune file.

Jade @fastand4.0 came in this morning with his 2021. Updated and flashed KDMAX-Pro+ with Sport throttle. He has a bit of weight issue! His truck was really having a tough time on the highway with gear hunting. The camper really is affecting all drive ability. Look forward to hearing from you. Just wanted to share this feedback of a customer I just tuned this weekend. Anybody around middle TN that wants their truck tuned with KDMax Pro, shoot me a message!

 

Mine is the same way. I actually passed a car at 60 mph without the transmission downshifting. What a difference and what a joy? Almost like getting a new sports car, in a slower kind of way.
