This is so reminiscent of my discussion with F&I last Tuesday when when I bought our new RAV4. He was pummeling us on the Windshield, Keys, Tire & Wheel coverage policy and specifically stated that if we take a hit to our windshield, they will fix it or replace it and go through all the Calibration process with ZERO deductible. This is a Toyota product he's pushing. $600/5 years. Looking at the fine print, it repairs chips and cracks up to but no more than 1". Anything more, you're fucked. No coverage. Shit, my Lib Mu insurance will fix up to 6" for free. After that, my deductible is $250. That cost nothing additional to have.

Gotcha! Well, hope for the best. It will prolly really come down to the Service Mgr regardless, and your relationship with him/her.

With the inflation we have now on parts and labor, I’m really glad I got the warranty. And I don’t ever get warranties

    .
I have a 2021 RAV4 XLE (2wd) at 11,500 miles. About to purchase a Toyota Platinum Warranty (I never buy dealer or 3rd party warranties).

This is about as close to a Regular Toyota OEM 36/36/60 New Car Warranty as I can get. ALL repairs are done at any Toyota Dealer in USA or Canada.

My main concerns are the HVAC systems and the expensive electronics in these vehicles

    I was quoted $1,615.00 for a .... 10 Year -- 125,000 Mile -- Zero Deductible .... and I am going to take it.

10 Year -- 100,000 Miles was much cheaper, but I wanted those extra 25,000 miles.

This is the third time that I have used this person and last time was excellent.

Last time I traded the vehicle before the Toyota Extended Platinum Warranty kicked in and Toyota Corp. refunded all of my money (minus maybe $50.00) in about 10 days.

The REAL Toyota Factory Platinum Warrany is the only way to go .. IF .. you want to buy an extended warranty that won't screw you.

The RAV4's are little cheaper than the Tacoma's too. But he used to give me super deals on my past Tacoma's too.

If you don't mind could you start a new thread and explain what all happened? I blew a fuse while installing a LED dome light. I think your experience would be great to pass on to add to our collective knowledge on here.

Oh shit! How did you fare with your blown fuse? That precisely how mine started and it got real deep and expensive...even with my DIY fix!

I did have a pretty lengthy thread on my issue that ended up getting drawn out for a while till I was completely through with all aspects of the fix.

Do you need an assist with it or you good? I've got serious knowledge to the inner workings of the system if you do...all thanks to my problem and research.

Yeah I will check out what you posted. I blew a fuse when I fat thumbed a LED bulb. This was a couple of years ago. I guess I was lucky in all I messed up was blowing the fuse. I am getting a new Tacoma in the near future and will be doing the LED thing again.

Interesting observation on different pricing. In my experience, the rate sheet for the Platinum VSA is universal throughout all models at numerous dealers here in my region of CA. In all of my transactions, as well as "what if" calculations at different dealers considered in the shopping experience, they were all the same as presented, including the sheets when I bought my Taco on 7/31/21 as well as our new RAV on 2/22/22. It sounds like you have experienced differently? I purchased the 10y/125k for both vehicles and because I had seen the quotes from Wolfe here on the site, I paid $1900 each. A little more than the $1750 (IIRC) from Wolf, et.al. but saved me from having to cash those purchases out.

Whew! You scared me!

2 words will save your ass when you make the change.

    DISCONNECT BATTERY!

That's ALL it would have taken to prevent the whole ordeal but I thought I was safe with the main Map Light overhead switch set to "off". The rest is history. I've been meaning to promote that in a Signature Line. Maybe I'll get on that tonight! ;)

Edit: @Volt If you have any questions on that, ping me anytime! Never want to see someone have to eat that shit sammich for such a simple mistake.

...^^^... From my experiences ... the prices vary a lot ... if I had a hybrid RAV4 ... the price is higher.

When I had a 2wd Tacoma, it was cheaper than my 4wd ... more moving parts = more things to go wrong and fix later.

PS ... I live in SE USA and all of the dealers that I talked to were selling the higher profit SET Warranty and not the Toyota Corp. warranty.

Yes, I also found they are in tiers based on model/sub-model. For example, the 2WD Tacoma and 4WD Tacoma are in different cost tiers.

Ahhhh. I was wondering if it was a cartel thing. Mine is all Toyota Financial Services as you might have presumed.

Any clue on the geographic size of the SET reign? If I move to Tennessee will I be under their thumb?

...^^^... You are safe in TN ...

SET controls ... FL ... GA ... AL ... SC ... and NC.

I think SET is the oldest Toyota distributor with 177 dealers. Jim Moran started SET in 1968.

I do all my financing with SET and all my extended warranties with Toyota Corp.

Hey- so Im still blown away by the extended warranty price differences offered by Jtaylor vs my local dealer…am I about to be scammed? Can saving a $1000 really be this easy? I’d love to hear your experiences.

Absolutely that easy... bought one from her in November with no issues at all.
My only concern is that my local dealer may not give me a loaner car as easy. Right now I just ask...
