We also try to go places while school is still in session we loved the Tetons and I fished the snake at the south entrance to Yellowstone. Pretty much had it to ourselves but up in the main part of the park around old faithful was very thick with people even in late may first of June. BE6B577B-9DEB-4441-B3AF-768E63FEA6A2.jpg
The wife and I and one other fisherman and this critter pretty much had the south entrance to ourselves the last day I fished. That was a really good day!

I heard it was getting bad. Glad we could see it when we did.

its pretty wild stuff. i'm not supposed to have beer on account of the gluten (no wheat, barley, rye) but i grab a pack of this every once in a while. as long as i drink in moderation the side effects aren't too bad. it pours out black and heady like Guinness, has a nice sweet sort of after taste. my favorite beer by far. but not sold outside of MT so unless you come to visit me you're out of luck

the crowds have been amping up for a while but it really hit with COVID and suddenly everyone and their brother were camping.
aside from the insane crowds these days i miss watching the flux of international visitors. italians in august. germans/swiss in september. aussies in may. now its just everyone all the time. for whatever reason the foreign tourists who camped always gravitated to me. maybe seeing I was on my own made it more approachable to them? dunno. either way i met a lot of cool people from all over the globe. kinda miss that.

see? another reason you shoulda told me you were coming this way!

Great day indeed. This is where I find peace, hope you were able to walk away from that re-energized, with strength renewed.

I have found that I’m different from these experiences in a way I can’t explain. I catch fish and sometimes some really nice fish but it’s more about the place and the scenery sometimes I’m starting to believe I have a little hippie in me.

have you read A River Runs Through It? Its different than the movie, better
Norm puts into words what we can't - be it fishing, hiking, camping. Whatever you do out in nature that leaves you feeling more fulfilled than anything else you do.

OOH, add that to the list. I can give you the RRTI tour of MT. We can set you up in all the same spots filmed for the movie

The raptor center is a cool place. Yes they have captive birds but they're there because they are imprinted on humans and cant be released into the wild or have some injury that would make it impossible to release them. Bu was found out of his nest as a baby. Some folks picked him up thinking they were doing the right thing rescuing him. By the time the people turned him over to a vet he had imprinted on humans. Love him though. He's always got this grumpy look about him that just kills me. And there's Watson the Kestrel who has an amputated wing. He can't be free. But he gets to roam the office and during the mating season he always makes sure to "share" his mouse meal with whatever staff member he fancies  And Prairie the owl who is blind in one eye. They only keep the birds that have no other option. Main goal is to rehab and release. They saved 200 birds last year.
