Ok I have a 06’ pre runner 2wd I have replaced the upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, steering rack bushings, had aligned 2x this year new 2”lift struts the steering is tight but i now have a clunk in what feels like the front left. Everything is torqued to mfg specs I can only feel it at low speeds going over speed bumps intermittently and mainly when Turing into my drive way and gas pumps. I checked the bushings in the uca and lca they feel tight from what I can tell with a pry bar against the frame. I am thinking about new Lca’s possibly uppers but I would like to narrow it down I have searched this site and seen the same problems come up some say body mounts or steering shaft, some are the lca I can’t seem to figure it out before I start dumping money into it I am looking for some things that I didn’t think to check or some things that y’all have done to fix the issue. I haven’t tried to torque the cam bolts to 135 yet they are at atleast 100 as of this weekend. The truck has 270,000 miles on it so I know certain things are gonna wear out. Thanks for any help.

This, have someone turn the wheel back and forth and watch the ujoint, it will be binding.

The u joint right above the steering rack? Or the one under the dash that’s the only 2 correct. I will get my wife to turn the wheel. The only reason I wasn’t thinking that was sitting still I can’t get it to replicate the clunk or pop.

When I did the rack bushings I did notice the u joint there was floppy no movement in the portions where it was pressed in like side to side just the bearings would flop up and down like they weren’t tight anymore. Hard to explain.

Forgot to mention I already did that. I ordered a steering Shaft from one of the other posts on here and try that before I do the lowers or uppers

Ok so new lca, sway bar end links, everything torqued to spec still have the clunk. Next is the steering shaft next weekend. Then possibly upper control arms I just can’t narrow down the sound.

Anybody had issues with a squeak/rubbing sound come from the sway bar bushings. I think I have it isolated to that or uca bushings I am going to pull them and re grease them tomorrow and see if that fixes anything.

So I think I got it figured out. I had the sway bar bushings in backwards. The slot was facing the back apparently they need to face the front and greased them up with some red and tacky and the sound is gone.
