That's definitely a good approach to fender trimming lol. How have the Kendas been for you? I'm debating going up to 35s and with the Kendas, even though they've gotten so exp now smh

Anyone put some 255s on 8.5 wheels? Have new wheels coming. Not sure how'd they be or if I have to swap to 12.5s

They've been good to me. I paid just $200 a tire for 4 of them, and got the spare for $180, but I have heard they went up in price. I they've gotten really popular because they are good tires and the 35x10.5 gives all the ground clearance of 35s with much easier fitment

They've been great in inclement weather and great offroad. If the mud is really thick like in those snow pics, needed some wheel speed to clear the thick mud, but once you get on the skinny pedal, they clear out and grip up. Previously had wildpeaks in a hair over stock size, which I feel did slightly better in the rain, but these are still great

Thanks dude! If only the IFS could keep up with the rear lol

Just as @Falldownhard said, a lot of us have. Mine are on stock wheels.

I just looked and it appears the stock wheels are only 7" wide. ???
I'll have to confirm, but if I'm reading the specs right, it says: "Type E, steel, 16"x7J", 5 spoke, 5.5" bolt dia, 106mm hub bore, 6 - 139.7mm lug pattern, 25mm offset". I always thought they were 8" or 8.5"...

I’m running them in FJ/4Runner Off Road wheels. Which are 17x7.5
However Mickey Thompson lists the tire as approved for a 6.5-8 rim width. Was just thinking maybe I’d be stretching them a bit.
Once new wheels here. I’ll test fit one and test fit a 35x12.5 and see how it goes.

Yes stock wheels are 7” wide. Sometimes 7.5” depending on the wheel

Understand now. I thought you were worried about the 8.5 being too narrow.

No. I prefer narrower wheels on tires. I tend to run low psi when on the rocks. 10ish front 8-10ish rear. So I like the narrowness to keep beads. Granted with the 8.5 I’ll have to keep it a tad higher now.

Anyone have pictures of Yokohama Geolandars 255/85 r16's on a set of stock 16 inch tacoma TRD pro wheels (2020+, not sure when they changed to more recent wheels) Trying to see how wide they look on those rims

That was like a years ago. I clearanced everything lock to lock that day. There was a little bit of self clearancing the first time I took it off-road but it hasn’t rubbed since. Great tire but I hate how they pick up every rock in the trail.

255/85r16 Yokohama G003s were installed this morning.

Now that they are mounted, I’m very happy with the decision to go with narrow tires over 285s. Coming from Ko2s 265/75r16, I gained 1 pound per tire (57.8 vs 58.8 lbs).
