Now that I have a base trim 4 banger 2WD Tacoma for my hauling needs for the next 20 years, that kinda free up the choices of my 2nd car.

    Budget is $40k or lower
Pure blood Toyota only, no 86 or Supra.

    I'm considering

    1. 2022 Camry TRD
    2. 2022 Corolla Hatchback XSE 6-speed
    3. 2022 RAV4 Prime (if $7.5k tax credit still available)

    Consideration:
    1. Camry TRD is very limited in production and they hold their value and exclusivity. The new Calvary Blue is pretty cool. NA V6 is dying out.

    2. Other than the 6-speed Tacoma, the little Corolla hatchback is one and only other vehicle Toyota BUILDS with a manual gearbox. Manuals are on their way out too, I'm all for saving the manual cause, the only reservation I have about it is it can too little too slow.

    3. RAV4 Prime is the fastest Toyota currently on paper, plus I can option all the creature comfort too and still keep the price tag around $45k after rebate.

    What would you choose?

The Toyota GR86 or whatever it's called also has a Manual Transmission. Of what you listed l would probably go with the Corolla.

Camry V6. The V6 Camry feels smooth and powerful.

The Corolla looks sporty and manual trans makes it feel sporty but I think you might get bored of it fast.

    RAV4…..mehh . Perfect for wife!

Cheapest option which I think would be the Corolla, and also the most fun to drive.

Camry TRD is nice, saw one in Cavalry Blue which looked good. I don't think the looks of Camry match it's performance.

RAV 4, No I think I'd rather drive the Camry with it's wing and side skirts. RAV 4s are nice, but why not get a 4Runner instead.

Rav4 prime, Prius in a suv with way more power and 40+ mpg after 45 miles of EV only. But that’s my opinion

Agree with the GR86 and the Corolla GR. Both would be fun to zip around in.

However, I still standby the idea that the fastest car is the one you don't mind banging up... so i'd probably go to the corolla XSE and hold onto a bit more cash.

I know they aren't toyotas but I've been catching myself staring at a couple small sedans lately. The newer Honda Accord 2.0t Sport and Mercedes CLA250

A little of this and a little of that.
I'd choose the Corolla. For me personally, the Rav4 just doesn't click all the buttons. I like the Camry, but in the end I'd select 6-speeds/three pedals over the other choices.

    Good luck!

My 2020 Camry TRD was a blast, an absolute joy to drive and just sitting in it felt like a cockpit. It has a few more HP on the higher octane but ran very well on the 87. That V6 was so smooth, nothing like my clunky Tacoma, lol.

Lowering springs and few minor tweets, wanted silver but could only find red.

Searched "Corolla GR" in the search bar just to see if anyone around here was talking about it. Excited for the debut tomorrow! So far, this car is checking alot of boxes for that low profile JDM dad-mobile :turtleride:

Get the Accord, you don't want a low end MBZ.
When do you think Toyota would start building those?

I wouldn't expect it to be anytime this year.

    From what I hear!
Speculation is Oct 2022, but we all know this could easily get pushed back with current world events; or at the least be a very limited access.

According to some fairly reputable sources at least lol. Supposed to be an official debut tomorrow

Get a Miata RF or better yet - why not a pure driver's car?

I faced that choice and ultimately went with a Mazda3 turbo. I found Toyota's car lineup to be boring.

    Mazda builds a nice car.

I saw a SantaCruz in a Quick Sand color, with black trim and wheels today. I think I have seen it before. Didn't look that bad, kind of had nice profile, almost a Stealth fighter look to it.
