Yeah aluminum. No winch this time. Truck is much better this time around without all the extra weight.

Loosen and re-torque your wheel lugs to proper torque before going. I had a shop smack the lugs back on with an impact one time (to god knows what) and it created steering wheel shake. Concentric wheels and all that.

0331221317_HDR.jpgwent and got 180$ sheet of 1/8th aluminum. Going to make a template from cardboard and have it cut. Will have to weld some tabs on bumper to attach.

I bought a drill sander kit off Amazon. I wish i would have went all the way to the 5000 grit though. Then just used the Cerakote ceramic coating wipes out of their headlight kit. Didnt even bother with their oxidation wipes, but hindsight, probably would have made the sanding go quicker. Think they have a little hand sander in the kit, but drill kit was much faster and i didnt want to be hand sanding all day. This maybe took 30-60 mins, longer cause beer, lol.

Start with the aggressive grit and just move up, wet sanding. Pretty easy. I've heard from others that the Cerakote lasts years supposedly, unlike other stuff. Being that its a ceramic coating. Auto 2 part clears would be an even longer result. But again, windy as sh** here and i would just end up with sand in that. My garage is full of a tore up 4 wheeler i am rebuilding for the kiddos, so couldnt close it up in there and spray clear. Plus didnt want to have to tape off whole front end or remove the lights. Kids, animals, and wifes endless projects keeps my time ate up. This was quick.

Installed my ICECO slider for my 75L dual freezer/fridge and FINALLY got the balls to cut 4.5" holes in my quarter panel for the snorkel! Whew! That's done!

Very much so. There is rarely a day it isnt blowing over 20 lol.. This a pretty heavily used truck, so she dont get the detailing she deserves. Maybe one day i will have time and just do a ceramic coating to the paint. Got to get my garage back though, or shop in the background back. Its pretty much a man cave at this point.

Love to have that topper, but too often having to cram an ATV or MC in the back of mine. Maybe a soft topper is what i need, lol.

I fretted about the same thing with two monkey bikes, an 82 cafe racer and Harley to lug around, but I really wanted the RSI and if I need to haul a bike I can just rent a trailer. The monkey bikes are easy since I can just rotate their handle bars down for a trip (I think), though I haven't tried it yet.

So can someone help me figure out which part this is: It's the brace for the front quarter panel of the bed. I leaned on the truck just ahead of the rear fender and it wobbled. Looked underneath, chewed clean through.

What did you use to protect it after making it look nice again? My passenger side headlight is going hazy and I need to fix it, but I'm holding off until I can find a good product to protect it after the fact. Automotive clearcoat leaves behind a weird residue that distorts the light in my experience so I'm shying away from that.

Edit: After having read some posts that didn't appear initially, I now have a better idea of what you did. Going to pull the trigger on that and clean up my passenger side with the cerakote.
