LBT 6094 slick carrier and either a velocity systems rig for "heavy" use or a Spiritus mk4 for less strenuous or low round count use has been a great all around setup . About the same weight total as a full molle carrier, and gives you the option to run just the carrier, or just the chest rig as well as both depending on needs.

Edit: Plate wise, the Hesco 210s or similar "special threat" plates are a good option. Stop some rifle threats you are likely to face stateside worst comes to worst, but doesnt have the same bulk as a level 4 which are hot and heavy mofos if you have to wear them for any length of time.

good plates for the money. shellback makes a great PC, got a brain bucket too? I also recommend a decent chest rig. Most of not all can buckle into your PC, if not you can get the bucket adapters. This is a Haley strategic d3rx heavy.

Just looked them up. They look like run of the mill level 3/4 ceramic plates. They do seem more expensive than other options though, granted its been a bit since I've priced out body armor.

Highcom was great to work with last I bought plates, Hesco seems to be the new hotness, and their products look and feel quality for the money. I'd go with a big name personally instead of an outfit like Spartan armor which seems small and gimmicky for customer support, proven reputation, etc.

because your gun doesn't do you much good if you take a bullet to the chest without armor...

that being said, your armor doesn't do any good if its not on your body.

everyone, stop shooting at me for a minute while i go get my armor on...

Very nice, keeping it classy. I have a ceredyne high cut. I have a friend of mine who started a business getting ach/ech,/mich and all the other various and he professionally cut them to make, high cuts, super highs, and customizes them pretty bad ass. That's where I got mine. I've seen ss109, 193,855 and many others shit point blank into them with little to no deformation. Wild isn't it

I'll have to go look up that specific video.

That said, spalling and backsplash is the primary concern on any steel plate regardless of whatever proprietary truck bed liner they put on and call spall protection. You may not have a hole in your chest, but having your face peeled off from splash isnt gonna be fun.

Second would be energy transfer since it doesn't fracture like a ceramic plate does to dissipate the kinetic energy that just got dumped into your sternum, although it aint gonna be fun either way.

Yep. Wish it got just a smidge closer to my eye is my only complaint. I think its the G11 that doesnt have the breakaway that comes closer as a byproduct. Overall, quite happy with it.

Ah, got it. Name was misleading, and I couldn't look it up at work cuz of the firewall and terrible cell signal.
