Same. Hoping to not deal with that.

I thought about it but the way the vehicle market is right now is just not in a buyers favor. Plus I’m only a few grand from paying it off. We’ll see how it goes with corporate. Worse come to worse I’ll pay the dealership to make the repair. Then it’s documented and in the system.

i have noticed the part number has changed by 1 digit NEW 1635631051 vs Old 1635631050 i wonder if any significant change occurred between the 2 versions.

On a modern vehicle like this, I like to keep it all in house. If anything went wrong after a repair/ service I can point the finger back to Toyota and hold them liable.

Plus, like I said, it’s now documented in Toyotas system.

Yeah I wonder as well. I’m not an engineer, but I guess the new one is still made of plastic and that doesn’t make me feel very comfortable

Here’s an image of what the leak looks like from under the passenger side looking up towards the back of the block. Not a great photo, but you can clearly see the dried coolant accumulating.

They did the same kind of number change to the 3rd brake light. If Toyota changed the number, it most definitely is different somehow.

ive had different experiences but the only services that have gone wrong are ones that toyota has done. I would feel pretty pissed if i bought the platinum warranty to handle this type of issue and they specifically wrote this repair out of it. Sure wouldnt make me want to give them anymore of my money.

I definitely see what you’re saying and I can’t argue with that. Unfortunately I think this is going to end up being a learning experience about warranties for me. I have the pamphlet that outlines the entire Platinum Warranty and on the back page is a whole list of parts it DOES NOT cover and it’s mind blowing to see what falls into that list.
That being said I do intend to fight it as much as I reasonably can. I have no intentions of just rolling over on this one. Especially something that is clearly a faulty design.

From what I understand they did change the part because of this issue
In my opinion if they went through the trouble to modify a part then there was a problem. If the know there is a problem than they should fix it . Even though it only happens to some trucks at that.

One good thing. There is a thread on here of someone who fixed it themselves and I don’t think it was as bad as it seems. I think you have to remove the intake( good time to change the plugs) and I believe you can get to the piece .

I just read the excluded parts online and I think you have an argument for it to be covered.

It says “hoses” are not covered. The replacement part is not a hose. It is a “joint”.

The only “tubes” that are not covered are heating and vacuum hoses and tubes. This leak isn’t either of those.

    I’d fight it.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. And this isn’t related to “heating”, this is a “cooling/coolant” issue.
Trust me, I plan on going as far as I can with it.

Dude this gives me some hope! Who did you call? Corporate? A dealer rep? Customer service? The dealer itself? Cause I’ll call all day everyday to get this covered by them as it’s their fault in the first place.

I called Toyota directly, talked to a customer service rep. He did talk to a supervisor to approve the repair, the phone number was given to me by the dealer that did the repair, since Toyota authorized the repair but the hours allowed were mot enough to get the job done.
(Intake manifold was removed to get the job done)
