Just curious of the amount others here are using in their rear diffs with LSD equipped? I have read on here that the diffs we have end up chattering very easily, if that is the case have any of you added more than the reccomended amount to combat this issue? If so what is the amount you run (ie 5,6,7 oz's)? Thanks!!

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
There is no recommended amount :notsure: Toyota forgot to put that into FSM.

Amount will also depend on additive. I have almost 8 oz of GM additive with Mobil Delvac synthetic and no chatter. System works np since I did "one wheel climb test"

I believe I used two 4oz. bottles of redline friction modifier if I'm not mistaken.

RP is what fluid I used but I still added some friction mod to it.

If you use Redline you don't have to add any friction modifier

You are not using any with an LSD and your not getting any chatter? I hear that is hard to get from others here. I have seen several that claim to have LSD but I still add it though

It has the friction modifier built in. It's the only oil that's worked for me so far - all the other oil & friction modifier combinations I tried eventually started chattering... Wasted a lot of money on gear oil....

Did you look thru this post?

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/93117-beware-changing-lsd-lube.html

Depends on what oil and friction modifier you use. Put in the standard amount first - do some tight 8 turns in both directions to 'stir up' the modifier..... then ...If you get chatter, put more in.

Simple as that (or read the above thread)

Oh wait...did't I just mention this back in post #3?? Hello??
    (sorry...just had to say it)

I am not asking anywhere in this post^^^ how much I need to run. I was trying to see the variation of what others have had to use to keep "chatter" and such out of the LSD. BUT thanks for the response.
