Okay, I will be a speaker for your Tacoma if you insist:
Me: "Your Tacoma is very proud to be a truck and knows, as long as you don't do stupid shit, it will provide years of reliable and durable service. It also does not like loud music."

There, I spoke for your Tacoma. You're welcome.

Very few plug and play options but adapters that connect to the factory harness to aftermarket speakers are very common. I’m doing Kicker CS series in my new truck. There are adapters out there that make it so you don’t need to cut any factory stuff.

I've got the Kicker CS speakers in mine front and rear, sound much better than stock.

I have alpine 6x 9 separates in the front and alpine 6-1/2 co-ax in the back and it sounds so much better. Drastic improvement

If you use Cruthfield they give you the plugs
I bought the tweeter harness online to connect to the alpines also
I can’t remember the company though and I made the mounting plates out of MDF for the tweeters

I made Kicker DS series speakers plug and play with Metra harness adapters. I also improved those by running an Alpine Power Pack amplifier behind the head unit using Metra harness adapters to make it plug and play. Not a single factory wire was harmed in the stereo upgrade of my truck.
