Yes I bumped the 887 to second notch because my measurement only netted me like 1.5 or 1.75 of lift on first notch on a stock dclb 3rd gen taco. It was squishy as in the body roll was pronounce and when you hit a speed bump you can feel the truck go down more like a Cadillac you can say. Nose diving is also noticable. I don't like it because it doesn't feel planted and secure. I feel like it was too soft for me.

The ride was okay but it's not for me. I prefer it to be more firm but not stiff if you understand what I mean. It doesn't feel like a diesel truck where you hit a bump you can feel your whole truck rattle or shake. It absorbs everything well but you will sway back and forth on turns and you can really feel it, almost no control of you're going fast.

There is no vibration whatsoever for me. Initially it was on first notch and I had about 2 inches or less of rake. I didn't like it because it almost seem like I didn't get a lift at all. I have a Deaver aal without taking out overload and Bilstein 5100 for the back. Once I up to second notch it was great for a few weeks and then the squishiness came back. I later install a trd skid plate and some sliders and it made my truck feel way different. It's more secure and planted more firm in a good way not jarring over speed bumps or anything but you can feel the road alot more. I lost more height due to the weight, I might be getting 886 coils or save more to buy a better set up perhaps kings. So far it's good but we shall see how it holds up.

Well alrighty then. Seems 2nd setting isnt a bad idea and save a few bucks instead of getting new coils. I wont be adding any weight so 2nd setting should get me close to level? Did it your? I too have a double cab, Wulf add a leaf in rear and Bilsteins F&B

I haven't really offroad with the weight yet but before the weight I took it offroading not too extreme just small hills with smaller rocks and gravel roads. It rode nice and I had no issues, just remember to air down and you'll be fine.

Hey Serge, truck looks great! What an adventure, you must have been happy when that day was over? I was following your posts when you originally got the lift. I'm scheduled to get a truck in July. I'll be getting a lift from Krave in Calgary, the only difference from your lift is instead of Dobinson leafs they are providing OME Dakars. Any reason you went Dobinsons? Did you happen to take pre and post hub to fender measurements?

    Thanks!

I’ll definitely remember this trip for the rest of my life. Was thinking we were gonna sleep in the woods. We had food and water so would’ve been fine hah.

The only reason why I didn’t get Dakar leafs is because they squeak, it’s a known issue. West coast off-road recommended them to me. Dobinsons have been silent so far.

And no I did not take measurements, I should’ve though. Looks and feels like truck is lifted just over 2”. Really makes a big difference getting in and out, especially with 255/80/17s.

That’s because springs don’t lose spring rate or length over time. No surprises here. :)

There is definitely much more misinformation on this site than information, but it’s still fun to banter.

My take on the sagging springs phenomenon is that it’s not the springs sagging rather it’s the owners brain sagging. The day after installing the lift, the small difference in ride height is noticeable if the owner has enough experience with the truck at ride height. As time goes on, the memory of stock ride height fades and owner becomes less impressed with it. They become convinced that the truck has changed when the reality is that they have changed.

TBQH, I have been guilty of this in myself, but every time the tape measure has proved me wrong.

Fairly certain there are documented cases of this sag.

I encountered so many stories of it that I stuck with Bilstein's recommendation and kept the stock coils. We don't know what the spring rates are on the OMEs, and we don't know how that compares to what the stock ones are, which Bilstein specifically tried to work with. I think there is a stiffness discrepancy and the OMEs sag over time. I think if you are going 5100, you should rock the stocks.

The OME coil spring rates are well documented.

    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...-__Various_Lift_Heights_Available_(PAIR).html

The only source I have for the stock spring rates is this thread.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-you-need-to-know-about-lifting-a-2016-tacoma-presented-by-toytec-lifts.395798/

But this has nothing to do with settling/sag over time that people claim.

Those spring rates were disputed by multiple shops that I spoke to.

but if you take this from the post you sent:

The factory coils on the 2016 Tacoma have a higher spring rate than any of the Old Man Emu coils (884, 885, and 886 specifically)

why can't this explain the sag?
