Took off my roof rack to swap hardware to stainless and saw the beginning stages of rust spotting. So now I have a line-x roof top!

Yeah, it looked taller initially but it settled pretty quickly (probably within a couple days). I waited a week before doing final adjustments. I did Deaver expedition leaf springs and thankfully they settled more as I was at a little over 3” initially and they settled to 2”. I basically lifted the front because I needed to lift the rear as my factory leafs were not handling the weight of my cap, racks, and constant load very well. I ended up at 22.5” both sides in the front (center of hub to fender) which is probably around 1.75-2” lift (didn’t measure before but DBL cab LB is usually around 20.5 factory. I couldn’t see the difference visually for lean but it was there when measured.

Looks good...don't have to worry about scratches up there anymore now either! I've been worried about rust or other issues from having the prinsu up top. This summer I plan to swap the hardware out for stainless steel. Was the rust on your roof from the hardware that mounts the rack to the truck?

Did you notice reduced road noise after the Line-X application?

Well now I didn't realize propane was heavier than air. Never looked into that property. Cheers for educating me on it!

I did not say the hydrogen DIDN'T burn. Of course it did and it would be stupid to think other wise. But it burned above the craft and is not the reason for the envelope burning. Nor for it burning so rapidly.

I think he was asking how are you going to be able to lower the spare tire under the bed, that light strip appears to be blocking the access hole for the crank jawn.

ooof, fortunately my wife will at least let me know that her car is making any little noises. Hell, she alerted me to the throw-out bearing starting to wear out before the mechanics could hear it (intermittent noise). At least with you managing the maintenance on the vehicles you know it will get done, right?

And thanks to that one incident we've spent the last 85 years without hydrogen dirigibles that can more cheaply and efficiently transport cargo and people around the world because now we have a phobia about hydrogen. Technology has advanced a lot since then. It's good to see that a couple companies are finally starting to make some headway at bringing them back to market.

If someone could develop a "hot swap-able" hydrogen cell like we do batteries in a UPS then the use of fossil fuels would diminish very quickly.

There was a bit of buzz about that back around 2007, but largely died when 2008 hit and "physics" intruded. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1797861/

More recently there's been a new take on it that could be interesting. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/...utionize-hydrogen-storage-for-evs-167256.html

That said, it's all vaporware until I can actually buy something. Just like the Alpha Wolf EV pickup that I want to buy but doesn't actually exist in anything but a computer render and mock-up rolling chassis.

No it was speckled across the middle. Likely combination of Toyotas trash paint job and the salty air being close to the beach. I was looking into wrapping the roof until I took the rack off and saw the rust. Line-x took it down to bare metal, primed and coated so I don’t have to worry about anymore and majority of it gets covered by my front runner rack.

No real noticeable difference without the rack but I’m looking forward to seeing if it quietened things down once I get the rack put back on. I’ll be sure to share!

Does your phone case have a metal plate in it for the magnet? My Qi charger doesn't work with the metal plate in it.

Agree, hydrogen is very light and essentially was the large explosion / flare that can be seen above the envelope. Charging large banks of batteries for DCS systems or even forklifts can produce hydrogen gas. Always want good ventilation in battery charging rooms.

Yeah I think it has a thin metal ring embedded in it, but it's specifically designed to work with MagSafe. It's a Spigen Tough Armor Mag.

Edit: Here's a link. I really like Spigen, particularly the Tough Armor line. All my phone cases since about 2016 have been from them. They've held up to a drop here and there as well as being in my pocket/belt pouch when I work as a carpenter and stagehand.
