AE rye is garbage in my opinion, choked down a pour at a bar once, so glad I tried before I bought a bottle.

with that said, if you have a sweet tooth it’s probably amazing for you.

I think my wife got me this before and I was pleasantly surprised with it.

Good to know about Basil Hayden, I saw that locally and was unsure about it. Think they had dark rye, toast, and reggo.

Booker's is fantastic. The finance director at my local Toyota dealership bought me a bottle.

Oh and grabbed this last night too, it’s got quite the bite. Of course over msrp because the local place knows people are looking for it.

Relentless Fab hybrid bumper, 2.5” Dobinsons IMS lift, RCI skids and sliders, block heater. Painted FJ Steelies. Was trying to keep it stock, now slowly building for the Wisconsin trails.
I personally haven't tried that one. I do have a barrel select from Yahara Bay out of Madison that is surprisingly smooth for a 122.5 proof.

Also feel free to stop by the Wisconsin Tacomas thread. Pretty active group there.

Just finished the last of my Peerless Single Barrel Rye (Peanut Brittle release). What a dang fine whiskey to enjoy on this beautiful Texas day.

Spent last Friday night passing a bottle of Four Roses yellow label around a campfire with 3 other Tacoma Worlders, good times. Any suggestions for something similar but slightly more sophisticated under or around $40ish bottle?

If you like banana bread I'd recommend Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. The wonderful banana/tropical note comes from the double maturation and varying char levels of the barrels that really makes it an excellent choice. Around here it goes for ~$45 a bottle.

Finally! Last one they had on base, had been promised to someone on the “list” who didn’t pick it up in time. It will be 3-4 months before it’s in again. They don’t even put it out, it just goes to the mysterious list.

Was watching UFC the other night and saw the branding logo for Howler Head whiskey. Dropped by the state liquor store on the way home... perusing the aisles of bourbons and such... saw the logo. Thought, hmmm... might be nice to try something new. It's a Kentucky straight bourbon... how bad can it be?
FUCKING BANANA FLAVORED! Jezus Kryst this shit is terrible....
To answer your most obvious question... NO, I did not read the entire bottle and realize it was banana flavor. So yeah...

Our local Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits stores have been really low on stock for several months - a combination of switching to a new warehouser and supply chain issues. Stopped by today and found they are finally beginning to get some product - said they should be back to normal (normal for PA, anyhow) in 2 to 3 weeks. I was able to grab some restocks/new stuff to try. Maker's Mark is switching out the bottle they've traditionally used for 46 and going to the traditional style bottle. We have been trying to find Elijah Craig and Yellowstone for a while and the Basil Hayden Toast sounded interesting, as well.
