Looks like the new Toyota app removed tire pressure for those who don't have push-button start?

My current version is 1.2 and still showing tire pressure. I assume a new update will be available soon, I will be on the lookout. Thanks.

I haven't touched the TPMS and the truck has never been to a tire shop. It's only got about 9,000 miles on it so I'd assume it was set at port or the dealer. Which begs the question, why would they set it for a pressure higher than what's recommended? Guess I'll have to set all my pressures to 29, then reset the TPMS myself.

Just... add a little air to the one tire?

So maybe a little off topic, but after reading this thread I decided I would setup the Toyota app and try it out. I bought my Tacoma used in February (not from a Toyota dealership). When I tried to scan the VIN with my app it yelled about conflicted info. I think the previous owner is still registered. I called Toyota cust serv and it looks like I have to send them proof of ownership docs for them to kick the previous owner off the vehicle. My guess is that a Toyota dealer would have done this at the time of purchase had I bought it there. Anyway, I am able to add the truck vin to my Toyota owners account and was a little creeped out to see that Toyota knows the EXACT mileage of my truck to the mile. It says this on an account faq:
Where does Toyota get the odometer information displayed on my Toyota Owners account?
Toyota receives your odometer information from your last Toyota dealership service visit or your most recent odometer update.

But that is not true... as far as I know it has never been to a dealer for service (only had 2000 miles when I bought it). So how are they getting the mileage? I guess because the previous owner connected it to the "remote connect" service my truck is always talking to the Toyota cloud? Anybody know how this all works?

It has a SIM card and sends it to the mothership over the cell network. It will also tell you how full the gas tank is.

When you get your account set up, also be sure you disable it sharing your driving habits and locations with trusted insurance partners

Ah OK... I think I get it. So when you use the phone app, you are pulling the info from the cloud. The fact that the previous owner signed up for the "remote connect" means that the truck is uploading all that info. He could probably still start my truck from his phone!

On another note, while I was on the phone with Toyota customer service trying to get my account figured out, she mentioned that there was a special service bulletin or something having to do with my data communication module (DCM). I'll bet this is to reprogram it so that you can still use key fob remote start after your trial subscription ends because of the blowback Toyota received for making it a subscription service: https://www.thedrive.com/tech/43636...tart-subscription-plan-after-massive-blowback

I’m on the latest release as of today. It took some digging but I found the tire pressure info.
From the home screen click on the “vehicle status.” From there you’ll see “doors windows and tire pressure.” Then at the bottom you can hit “See Details” to find you last tire pressure readings.

Having dark mode option is nice.

Is there a disclaimer stating not to go by the tire pressure readings on the app?

it's actually quite accurate as it's pulling data from the TPMS sensor in the wheel, I checked it against the reading from pressure gauges, it's off by plus or minus 1 psi, that's good enough

I have seen other manufacturers place a disclaimer on their app for pressure readings.

I don't know how accurate the readings are on there apps. I'd think the disclaimer is just there foe legal purposes, but if the readings are not accurate what would be the purpose of getting TPS readings via an app?

I'm sure there could be some discrepancy if the app isn't getting current information.

It's one of those situations, where technology is great. Unless it's not operating as designed.

I just installed the update last night. Everything is working fine and I see the tire pressure. If you want to change vehicles it's no longer My Garage, it's a press and hold on the lower middle button. I also tested communication by updating status of windows and doors manually (which was sometimes an issue after updates in the older version) and it worked fine. I actually like this UI much better.

Call me crazy, but I thought there was a TPMS reset button? Regardless of what the door jam reads, you can set your tires psi up to whatever you like. Just press the button until the tire pressure indicator blinks a few times (might want to check the owners manual to confirm :)).

Keep in mind your door will list the cold PSI which is the minimum they should be at. Your tires heat up while driving so PSI will be higher when driving. Your door sticker is correct. As for the app, my guess is it is preprogrammed with a "catch-all" type PSI which isn't specific to any truck.

I just opened my app and see the update...did the little 7-page tour and started to poke around.

Found the tire pressure location...mine all read 37 psi. OPs check good!

The second week of May is the anniversary of my Sport.

I received an email in late Feb to renew the app for $8/month....per plan: Service Connect & Remote Connect. That would be $16 per month if you get both.

The remote start option on the app was great during the winter time; I was able to remote start/warm-up my Sport 1/2 hour before I drive off.

I'm still able to remote start with the FOB key but I'll have to be somewhat close to my truck to do it.

I won't be providing payment info so it should automatically stop working once the 1 year membership expires.

Oh great! More big brother. Is there a NEED for this? I don't have the app for my 2019 manual sport.

Depends how you define need. To survive, you really don't need electricity, a cell phone, the internet, a debit card, or many of the technological conveniences most people take for granted. All these things leave an electronic trail for "big brother". It really depends on what your priorities are and the tradeoffs you are willing to make.

Better yet, what ever happened to the even older days when the gas station attendant used to check the tire pressure for you while he filled up your tank, then cleaned your windshield?

    Yea, I'm old :)
