Honestly I have no idea. What would y recommend. Would always love. The ability upgrade down the road for more power. That’s all I’m thinking.

 

That merge setup is created for an internally wastegated setup. Just a note. That being said, a good turbo, that has a good flowing internal w/g, can be a good choice due to space limitations and time make things tricky. That design simplifies it.

I can do external w/g setups though. Have even mounted one directly to a turbine housing before. Of course, there was space up top, and nowhere else.

Garrett or Borg Warner are my recommendations. Ultimately, that is up to the buyer.

Difficult question. I've always thought the RS was cool as hell too lol

I used to have a Mazdaspeed 3 and loved it, and I'm sure the speed6 would be a lot of fun. But that's a sedan.

If I had to choose right this moment on a hot hatch, I'd be doing a lot of comparing Pros and Cons between the RS and GR Corolla myself.

 

Well said. The next question would then be, if those two, the RS & GR, are the choices, would they be left stock or be invested in for performance/power?

I'd probably go corolla gr just to own a high revving 3cyl.

Few tasteful bolt on's is all I'd do. I better save my pennies. I bet msrp is mid 40s

 

May be easier to save money with the GR if the stock tune is nearly maxed and if bolt ons don't yield much improvement.

Was that issue with the RS heads or head gasket ever confirmed or resolved? Never much clarity on that.

I know people said the tune was almost maxed out on those but idk how true that is because weren't people seeing good numbers with bolt ons and a tune?

 

I think the rs head gasket was that some cars got mustang gaskets by accident. The rs has a gasket deigned for that motor

The RS is exciting as hell, I've always thought they were pretty sweet

 

Roughly 87.5 HP per pot on the RS if I'm not mistaken, and 100 per on the GR

 

Found this build on Customtacos; not sure if it’s old news to you guys though. It’s an older build (2009); remote turbo adjacent to the trans on 2TR and intake is plumbed back to the stock air box, no intercooler. Looks like he modified the stock exhaust manifold to mount the turbo, had to relocate his oil filter and running a scavenger pump. Actual build and pics start on around p. 8, interesting idea.

 

Quick injector question. So I'm currently chasing an issue with my v8; It starts and then stops. I can keep it running with alittle gas but it's running super rich and with my scanner I can see the fuel trims are pulling all fuel out at like -20.

If an injector was bad would it still sound like the rest? I pulled all of the injectors and cleaned them but nothing seemed to change. I should note my fuel pressure sits perfectly at 40psi as well.

What did you recently change?
Try cleaning the maf.
Faulty O2 sensor? Bad coolant temp?
Is it a genuine Denso maf? I had a ebay one and it did change the tune. Had to cough up the coin at yota dealer.

 

It does show a location. Sadly, it was good enough, and he never followed through with a closing to the build. Just fell off.
