Definitely an interesting topic and waiting is the worst thing. My order has been in 3 weeks, TRD OR no extra options. My dealer said he will have numbers? to track my build on Monday. They told me they place a high number of trucks each month so since mine is a basic build I should have it in 6 weeks. After reading all these posts I have my fingers crossed. BTW I am in Canada

So far so good, I talked to more dealers than I can remember and got a good feeling from the dealership and the salesman I’m dealing with. It’s early in the process and like I said before the more I research and read on all this the worse I feel about it all.
How bought you, how you fell about Laconia?

Six weeks sounds optimistic. I ordered a sport premium in late Dec and it might be here Apr 19-23.

So I have seen those reports of people saying they've heard or their dealer told them Tacoma production was paused/shutdown until late-April, but there seems to be no verification of this anywhere. Toyota being as big as it is, and Tacomas being as popular as they are in the US (top 10-15 selling vehicle in the US in 2021), it seems like this would generate a news headline somewhere. It's just odd. The only thing I have found anywhere regarding Toyota production is a March 17 press release referring to "intentional pauses" at production plants in Japan...and that's because of parts shortages related to earthquake(s) in Japan disrupting suppliers.

I reached out to my dealer this afternoon, and the salesman I've been working with said he has not heard of any Tacoma production pauses, but was going to look into it and let me know. I'm actually kind of encouraged he hasn't heard anything...I mean, you'd think that information would be getting around to dealers after a week. So Tacoma production kinda feels like Schrödinger's Cat right now...production is simultaneously ongoing and paused until someone can directly observe what is happening and report back.

I have not heard back from him yet, and I don but I will update when I do. Maybe it was all just a week-long April fools joke. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not yet, but I don't expect delivery until May or early June (build this month). Spoke to my salesman yesterday; he said that Servco had a delay on 40 Tacoma orders for March that got pushed to April, something to do with their specific order but didn't elaborate. Said my order spec wasn't impacted, so no change for me (hopefully that remains the case). I actually turned down a truck last month that someone else had cancelled on. It was close to what I ordered, but was missing some things that I'm willing to wait for.

We'll see, I want to get the truck first and then do an objective write-up. Stay tuned.

Sounds good, I had good luck with Grapone in the past but they wouldn’t work with me on the Toyota side at all this time…It was take what we have or nothing at all. They refuse to allocate or order a truck at this time …
Run don’t walk RUN from the Manchester dealer…Dishonest, misleading, horrible experience there.
Time will tell as this plays out in Keene but I’m staying positive…

This is just my experience so I can't speak for every situation like it, but I had an eta of 3/28-4/2 and around the 21st the eta disappeared and was told there was a hold put on my truck. Multiple dealers told me that could be for 30, 60, 90 or 120 days. On 3/29 my dealer told me it'll definitely be here in April but still nothing in the vspec and then on the 30th the truck showed up at the dealer. I hope everyone here has a similar outcome if a hold is placed on their truck. The Rollercoaster of emotions towards the end of the waiting period made taking delivery even better lol

I've purchased from Grappone twice in the past and have a deposit on a Tacoma with them this time around as well. They were very straightforward and worked with me on what I wanted in a truck. Agreed on avoiding the Manchester dealer, I felt a kind of slime get all over me the moment I walked in (and then right back out).

Maybe if I ever get it.
I placed my "order", also for a TRD OR, Nov 2nd. Was told January, possibly into February so ~ 12wks. It's a white access cab with no extras.

The "numbers" your dealer mentioned might be a temp VIN number referred to elsewhere in this thread which has a build week embedded in the last 6 digits. I'm also in Canada. My dealer said they don't use temp VIN numbers when I asked back around the end of Nov. I don't know if it's a Toyota Canada thing, or just my dealer. At that time, they said they get a real VIN when the truck is built.

When I followed up in early January, they said end of March or early April. In March I followed up to get a real VIN to see if it was built, they said they don't get a VIN until it hits their lot (something about TC having more "control" that way). I almost bought a Colorado that actually exists and is here now (thinking the Toyota was going to stay a myth for a while yet), but the Toyota sales guy sent me a screen shot showing the truck as built and in transit for delivery April 11-15.

Assuming the Taco actually arrives sometime in April, that would be close to 6 months. This dealer seems to be one of the highest volume in trucks locally. Despite them not giving me much info when I asked for it, my guess is they probably didn't get allocated the truck until January. In retrospect, I should have put deposits at multiple dealers in the province to increase odds of an earlier allocation.

This allocation system probably works pretty well in normal times when there's a selection on the lot, but I don't think I'll ever try to "order" from Toyota again.

So I was out running errands and also getting all my financing pre approved so I decided to swing by the dealership. Per their inventory it’s on its way to Houston then on to a truck. Still expected 4/10 - 4/11. So a little More than a week.

talking with my sales guys, they haven’t had any real issues once the vehicle has been built but their allotments have been going down each time over the past month.

He also hadn’t heard of any holds on Tacoma’s.

Yes when I talked to my salesman he said you don't get the VIN until it's on transport to the dealer. I guess I need to be patient

I dropped in to my dealer today to see if there was an eta update...nothing has changed it is listed as being "in transit" and no VIN. I heard from one of the transporter drivers the Toyotas coming to the East Coast come to Montreal by train and are transported by truck to the dealers in NS...but they don't seem to have the ability to track it.
