06 Auto Transmission Flush Cost

Ive reached 100k on my Tacoma,,, Still runs like a champ!!! I called the dealer to ask about the recommended 100k tranny flush and they're asking close to $200. Seems a bit steep.... Or is this a reasonable price? Aside from fluid exchange, are their any parts that have to be replaced? Have any of you guys had this service done somewhere else for less with good results? Do you recommend any other shop? Should I stick to the dealer? Thanks guys.

 

$189 is standard with differences in areas based on the labor rate. It's a system flush where they hook it up to a machine and pump the fluid through until it's all replaced. They don't replace the filter/screen when they do it.

 

I was wondering what he meant by "Parts",, So just stick to the dealer? A regular Drain and Fill was only $100.

 

Prices will vary from dealer to dealer on NON dealer recommended services. Toyota does not say to perform a trans flush but just drain and fill. When you get up in the 100k range sometimes it can do more harm than good. Look at your owners manual to determine best time to perform Factory services. I have sold several of the BG trans flushes and people seem to be happy with it. Never done it to my own vehicle just serviced at 60k like manual suggests. Good luck!

 

Does anyone know how many quarts are replaced in a basic Drain and Fill service?

 

120 drain and filll.....never again i will do it myself.....thats the only thing i let a dealer do

 

even $200 for a tranny flush is a good deal considering it has been 100k miles.. you've spent more than that on oil changes. even DIY.

when the time comes, i will let my dealership do the work and more importantly..warranty the work.

True $200 isnt so bad now that I think of it. Just wondering if it was a reasonable price... Or if some of you guys had it serviced other than a toyota dealership.

 

My local dealership quoted me $89.99 for a drain and fill. Some dealerships that have the equipment will do a true flush and prices for that are from $200 to $250. I believe when they do a true flush of the system, the drop the transmission fluid pan, clean the screen inside and hook up a machine to flush fluid through the system. From what I have read, the screen should be cleaned at 100K

 

THe manual does not call for a flush does it?

People love to spend money. GEt the internal engine steam clean or whatever while you're there.
and some scotch guard.

 

I just had the dealer do my transmission flush today.

12 Qts of WS fluid at $10.73 = $128.76

ATF flush kit (MOC-01941) = $29.71

Labor = $206.48

Tax = $13.87

Total = $378.82

That oil adds up when so much of it is being used. I assume the ATF flush kit is just their wording for "hooking up the machine". The labor is what gets me unless there is a lot of checks that have to be done. I'm so darn glad this only has to be done once/maybe twice while owning this vehicle. What do you guys think?

 

What? They did an actual full flush? I thought the dealer only did drain and fill, which is about ~3qts or so.

 

Yes, a full flush. My dealer here is "One Toyota of Oakland" give them a call and ask about the process. Dude on the phone said to me "Yes sir, we hook it up to the machine and it pushes everything out and takes 12 qts or so to do it".

I just wish it was cheaper being so close to X-mass.

I think what I am going to start doing now is the 3qt DIY every 20,000 miles or so.

 

This is the first I've heard of this. I wonder if it's new.

 

Just had mine flushed at Performance Toyota in Fairfield Ohio for $169.00

 

Keep posting the amount you paid for this maintenance action gentleman. We need to get a good baseline price going

 

$179 full flush and replace screen/filter. Newport News, VA
