Yes. And I had hammered enough to clear 34s without them.

Might need to cut under the airbox and battery though with it being pushed forward.

 

It's strapped to a wood platform that's bolted to that shelf where the rear seats were. All the rear seat and back panel molding has been removed. I had a larger Whynter in there for a while. This one is a bit smaller and fits quite nicely.

Nice. If that one dude starts producing rear seat delete molle panels, I'll probably get that and do a wood platform at the same time. Should be able to recover a few inches.

 

Replace my old cracked bug deflector with a new weather teach one. Whether tech is pretty slick!

The truck runs great so I'm more inclined to believe the new results than the previous test. The reason (I believe) the results were so different is because the original test used a crappy $20 gauge kit and the test from today was done with a $75 name brand kit. Other possibilities I can think of... maybe the engine wasn't fully warmed up on the first test but today I made sure the engine was good and hot, or maybe I didn't have the hose threaded in tight enough on the original test.

As for being able to repeat it... I repeated the test on each cylinder with similar results... so unless the new gauge is inaccurate I'm inclined to believe I performed the test right.

There’s just something about putting in an OEM part after you broke the original that is deeply satisfying.

 

High compression can be caused by excessive carbon build up too.

 

@drr for peace of mind, I went ahead and checked the calibration of the OTC compression gauge by hooking it up to shop air. It matches exactly the gauge on the compressor at 150 PSI. I wasn't able to find the right fittings to check the calibration on the cheap-o gauge because it uses some weird quick-connect I've never seen before... but I am convinced my engine is healthy. It's a huge relief. I feel like this truck could last me another 10 years easily.

Good to hear, sounds like you’ve got a healthy motor with no head gasket issues to worry about

 

I got the same numbers for an engine I put in my truck that had 160-165k

 

I'm assuming your lid flips the opposite way for that model? My 45 flips length wise. Hoping to delete the bench back there and gain a few inches that might be enough.

 

Is it possible to do a leakdown test of an engine at the junkyard before buying, or is it pointless to try it on a cold engine?
