Been a passenger many times off roading, but have never had a vehicle capable of doing so personally, so I was never a driver. Today I went out with a fellow tacoma friend and put my new TRD OR to work at the Prairie City SVRA. We are planning lots of off-road camping trips, and my buddy gave me great advice to go to the SVRA to learn some things before being out in the middle of nowhere trying to test my abilities. Thankful for wise friends haha.

All I can say is: Man, what a blast.

Aside from having fun getting the truck dirty, I learned so much from my more experienced friend and from getting out there and trying obstacles. If we’re being honest here, I was terrified at first. The first few obstacles we did I sat at the base of them thinking “no fucking way”. Then I’d watch my buddy go, he’d talk me through the “how’s” and “why’s”, then would guide me through as I went. Each one taught me something new, and by the end I had much more confidence and understanding of what the truck could do.

So stoked on how today went, and can’t wait to get out for more adventures doing truck stuff.776624B4-24B1-442C-90FF-B1192BD3A5CA.jpg20D1FC8E-4D5F-44C2-BC95-610CE0C2379C.jpgA9FD90C4-CA23-4A53-9539-E98E6518B6CF.jpg

Congrats and welcome…it’s an addiction for sure. The more comfortable you get the more enjoyable it becomes.

Awesome. There’s plenty to make an experienced off reader pucker. Haha

Keep pushing yourself and you will tear those steps off like I did. I told myself I would get sliders when I ripped them off with rocks and it didn't take long.

    Have fun!

Great start but you aren’t doing it right until the bushes on a tight trail etch Baja Pinstripes into your paint! Be careful “out there” and have a blast!

Fun fun fun. Just be sure to clean the radiator if there’s caked mud. You don’t want to overheat in summer

Are those steps removable? If so, get rid of them when off road.

Definitely plan on it next time. They only rubbed a little bit, a couple times… haha

My wife likes them, thinking sliders that she could use as steps would be a better route. Probably cheaper to just remove them and re-install if I’m headed off road

Some sliders or rock rails come with easily detachable steps for the vertically challenged. May want to look into those if she prefers having a lower step.

I don't like using my sliders as steps as they are angled and usually very dirty. Not the best place to put your weight.

No money, all went to truck...
Nothing like the rush of being new to off roading. Or any off roading for that matter.
