its NOT debris. there is a thread on toyota nation i think about this. i have it also (the clicking sound) and trust me...it will not go away on it's own. i need to make an appointment to have my blower motor replaced. one thing i've noticed on mine anyways, is that the sound worsens depending on how cold it gets outside. the colder it gets, the more noticable it is. why this is i have no idea. i believe i read that the fan blade shaft is "clicking" as it spins around.

i fist noticed mine making this noise last winter, but it goes away in the warmer summer months...well, it's back...and i think it may have gotten louder.

can't wait for the dealership to tell me there is debris in there. i've shop-vac'd it out like four times....it's the motor. wonder if there is a TSB on this yet. every forum i've been on...there are at least a few people that have this problem.

    +1 to that.

I can't stand the noise. There's gotta be a TSB for this soon. The only solution I've found is to kick the shit outta the blower motor. Not a permanant solution, but will make it stop for about 3 minutes.

I took it to the dealer and they said that if it is a leaf, not covered under warranty, but I can't convince them to change the blower motor because it miraculously stops making the noise around them.

If they don't replace it tomorrow while my TSB is getting worked on for the rear leafs, I'm gonna drip some oil on the blower shaft to see if that repairs the problem.....or just keep kicking the shit outta it.

Glad to see I'm not completely crazy and some others have the same annoying ticking noise. I know for a fact now that it is not debris causing it because I spent over an hour the other day shop-vaccing and checking for stuff up in there. Toyota really needs to put out a TSB on this. Until then, I'm not even going to bother complaining about it to the stealership. I can't even get the rear springs TSB done because of their stupidity. One... annoyance... at... a... time. Lol.

i want to know if any FJ's have had this problem. surely the HVAC's are very similar and probably share the same motor. i have not seen any of these complaints from FJ owners. i'm guessing that the Tacoma gets either a GM component or they are hecho in mexico. i'm pretty sure ALL the FJ's parts are Japan origin. if so, when the dealer replaces mine, i would like them to order the FJ part number.

has anyone noticed that it gets worse in colder weather? or is it just mine? the sound almost completely dissapeared this summer.

Mine's at the dealer getting looked at right now....I told them, "I don't care if you need to let the S.o.B. run for an hour, just trust me its there"

Turns out thats exactly what they did. They left my truck idling for 30 minutes and the sound came back, sooooooooo

They said they've changed the blower motor. I'll find out when I pick the truck back up today from my TSB springs exchange.:D

There should only be one cabin air filter in your truck.

The dealer checked mine out and said the bearings were bad in the motor so they put a new blower in and no more chirping /clicking annoying noise.:bananadance:

Take your glove box out. Behind where the glove box is, you will see a hinged cover. Open the cover, and that is where the air filter goes.
