Detailing Stations

anybody else rocking a detailing station? Just mounted everything up today. Going to make life a lot easier to keep the taco clean now.

I went down a YouTube rabbit hole one day and knew I had to have one!

 

I watch the AMMO NYC guy on YouTube every once in a while and it's probably dangerous (for me).

 

I like this set up. Alot.

Because I'm not in Florida I have to bring inside alot of my cleaning products although I just started doing that a few years ago.

I really want to install a frost proof water outlet between my two garage doors to use when we have mild winter days. That may require the work of a professional though and I may be looking for a local PA plumber to get more info soon!

 

There’s definitely a few good options for cold climates. Only problem I had was finding a spigot that mounted to the wall for exposed plumbing. All our water runs through the attic so it was easy to t-off from the main line and drop it down to the garage. I watch “this old house” and they recommend this one for cold climates.

Just moved last september and am still getting my garage set up. I will post pics here once the new pressure washer is installed and the setup looks slightly less janky.

 

I'm in a condo so a setup was no good here. I put this at my mom's house since I know she always wanted a pressure washer and knew she'd never roll out and setup one if it wasn't ready at the flip of a switch and hose bib. It's in her utility shed just off the driveway. The shop vac is hanging on a top shelf and has a remote fob to switch on/off. Water is tapped at the water heater so it only made sense to tap hot water too which also runs through PW. Turn the water on, punch the breaker switch that's built into the PW cord that's always plugged in. I grabbed the power reel on an Amazon listing that had it marked way below retail, that's come in real handy when we remodeled her kitchen and other projects or polishing.

 

Looks like a sweet setup for the space!

 

The Aquor hydrants are the best. I would not go back to a regular spigot after this.

Nice setup and jealous. Sadly something like that would not really work in the dust bowl of Arizona.
The towels and bottles would be dust covered in no time

 

Maybe a cabinet could help by keeping the dust out? Worth a thought.

 

Sweet setup just ordered a Ryobi 1800 PSI pressure washer today and some other goodies to start getting my own little personal detailing setup. Any recommendations on good cleaners and soaps? Been eyeing the Chemical guys.

 

I've found my people.

Detailing for me is a bit of a decompression from all the chaos that occurs in the world and in everyday life. A bit of an escape if you will.

Sadly though my set up is scattered in the garage, laundry room, and office at the moment. Mostly due to the fact that AZ is way too hot to keep my detailing supplies in the garage year round. With summer around the corner Florida sounds nice.

I'm currently running a Honda gas pressure washer 3100psi 2.5 gpm, DI Rinse Pro 100 deionized tank, MTM Hydro SGS 28 stainless swivel gun with Adam's foam cannon. Lots of detail factory brushes, microfibers, pads, and gallons of detailing products from Jay Leno, Adam's, P&S Detail, and The Rag Company. Just wall mounted a small tv in the garage too.

My future plans are to switch to an electric pressure washer perhaps a Kranzle 1322TS (total stop), AR Blue Clean 630, or even one of those Karcher cubes. Then add an MTM or Cox hose reel with 50-100ft Kobrajet blue hose, and swap my Adams swirl killer mini for a Rupes LHR 15 Mark 3 and Adam's foam cannon for an MTM Hydro PF22.2. Maybe one for soaps and one for wheel cleaners? Also eyeing some purple and black Swisstrax Ribtrax Pro tiles in a jumbo 4 tile x 4 tile checkerboard pattern seen here...

I’ve been pretty happy with most of the products from Adams. I own a few things from the chemical guys. We have a Chemical Guys store here and honestly it’s way too over the top for me. It seems like they have 10 different things for just 1 part of your car. Way too many products to sift through…not trying to shit on them but I decided I’m not going down the chemical guy rabbit hole…Get a foam cannon its a must! It’s obviously not necessary but damn if it isn’t fun! Adam’s Mega foam works great for that step. It goes on like shaving cream.. thick!. I follow up that with Adams car shampoo. Rinse, then dry with a ton of microfiber towels from The Rag Company. In between ceramic sealants (Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions) I use a product called Bead Maker from P&S. It’s a “drying aid” that offers a small hydrophobic layer of protection. It works great pretty much everywhere. @MGMDesertTaco has some great links to the same guys I watch for product reviews, ideas and tips etc. the main 2 being Hawaii Tesla & Detailing and Obsessed Garage. Obsessed Garage has some products that I’m going to try when I run out of what I have. Their drying aid has good reviews and the Hawaii Tesla guy has been using it now for awhile. Let us know what you come up with! Like MGM said it’s a great way to decompress. I enjoy it. Everything is way more enjoyable when it’s well organized and easy to use…so easy my neighbors think I’m going to wash the paint off my truck I do it so much. Good luck and post your progress!

 

The Kranzle would be killer! I just wasn’t ready to drop that kind of $$ on it. My wife would have apoplexy but on the bright side she loves having a clean car now… Sounds like you’re pretty much there just need a dedicated space and you’ll be set!
