    Oh yeah. I got my grandpas old water pump from when they did foundations where they used it to get water out so they could pour concrete. It sat around on the garage floor for 30+ years and I got it running again a few years ago. Believe it or not I was able to reuse all of the original seals on the carburetor!

    Oh yeah it suprises me too. All I did was make sure I used a screw driver to sorta scrape it off so it didnt rip. One thing about the old ones is it has terrible fuel delivery. The carb is mounted on top of the gas tank and it has to suck it up and doesn't have any gravity feed to help it out. Because of this it requires you to dump fuel into the top and pull it a few times to get the engine going which then it starts pulling fuel on its own and keeps going. It also doesn't help that it's got a ton of hours on it.

    No. It's got a piece of material I think that works like one. The straw in the tank is right below the needle valve. Heres what the carb looks like. It's the same model engine but it's on a Montgomery Ward generator head. Bought it from some old guy this last summer.

    Yeah it's nothin nothin special. If it were gravity fed, had what you describe or had the pickup tube at the bottom of the tank that would help with the fuel delivery. After it runs for a good 30 seconds it doesnt have any issues staying running.
