    I know the Subaru Kicker tweeters are pretty much the go to for plug and play tweeters but has anyone tried the DS18-Pro ST? I’m just curious how they sound. A30DD73B-9D2B-431C-A42E-552244CF06D5.jpg

    Just looked into these myself... the reviews all seem positive so far and they look like a direct plug n play.... on the fence on pulling the trigger... been in my shopping cart for a week.

    Ok, got these ordered. Should have them by Wednesday. Will try to find some time and do a comparison video...
    No need for me to do an unboxing and install video... been done to death.

    Well I can tell you all they are not plug and play. Will require splicing. 20220330_190344.jpg

    I recant my statement above... I was overthinking it... I will be plug and play.
    Just rewatched the install video. I was being drunk again.
    Ill report when I am done.

    I've been running these in my truck for about a month or so. Noticeable difference. Plug and play.

    I have a set of the Subaru upgrades in the dash already , has anyone ever thought about putting a set of the upgrades tweeters in the front or back doors? It crossed my mind.

    A few of us have put tweeters in the front doors, but we also removed the tweeters from the dash and replaced them with midrange speakers. Putting tweeters in the back doors isnt really needed or a good idea. Standard coaxial speakers already have a tweeter in them, and moving the tweeter up higher on the rear doors will result in reflections that will make the drivers listening worse.

    Your stereo should sound best for the driver, the driver is all that matters.

    i keep going back and forth on the subject of 3-way up front, it seems like the front sound stage is such a mess. how hard was it to tune the mids given they're bouncing up into the glass while your tweeters are now right there, right on axis? what is the sound stage like now?

    It was costly more than anything. I am running a audiocontrol dm810 dsp out to 3 amps. two 4 channel amps and a mono amp. Each speaker in my truck has its own channel, own crossover point, and own time alignment. This allows me to adjust each speaker based on its location in the truck, but since Im no expert at tuning and I dont have the proper equipment it does not sound as good as it could. Eventually I will either take it to a shop to get tuned, or spend the big money on the proper equipment to tune it myself.

    thanks, i appreciate your reply. the control sounds really appealing. the complexity and amount of equipment/$ is probably more than i'm prepared for.

    The price is actually not terrible, but I went with smaller amps than many as I only needed 75 watts per speaker.

    dm810 = 699
    acm4.300 = 349 x 2
    acm1.300 = 299
    RCA cables = 200

    so about 1900 just for dsp, amps, and rca cables. Then you got power wires, distribution blocks, speaker wiring, and misc other stuff for another probably 300+. Then you got to add the speakers to the mix for another 1200 or so. It adds up quick for sure, but If I am going to be stuck in a seat for a extended time, I want to have good sound.

    If I would of gone with the bigger amps, I would be looking at double the price for amps.
