Tacoma Stalking, er...uh, Spotting, with Charlie™ (2nd Gen Edition)!

I'm more well versed in the TRD OffRoad features than the TRD Sports since I have one
Not many sports around here, mostly SR5's, TSS, and TRD OffRoads here.

I don't see much of anything other than base models that have steel wheels around here, there's not too many 2nd gens around here anyway but I do see alot of 3rd gens.

 

I have 2 sets of seat cover on my seats.
I don’t even remember what they look like

 

The color was the last of my concerns - I did not want red but otherwise..

I completely scored though b/c the Spruce Pyrite Mica is a freaking awesome color, not sure if I would choose another color if I could + I get lots of compliments on the color alone!!

Finding an AC OR MT was like a hat trick and it took me like 10 months to locate one that wasn't crusted in rust.. walked away from 2 b/c as soon as they were on a lift . . . the corrosion was horrible. Not dealing with that re: maintenance

She needs a bath/wax after this pine pollen dissipates, gonna look so shiny when I am done.

 

Huh... Never even knew that they were "upgraded" for my SR5 when I bought mine. Thought they were standard

I did some far from home dealership exploration today and came across this truck at Bennett Toyota in Lebanon, Pennsylvania; I do not know what year it is at the moment, and I will post that info if I can find it on Bennett's website. This truck (a legit TRD Sport) seemed to be overall in good condition, and I really liked that grille guard...

From a thread called Found a fake TRD Off-Road at a buy here pay here lot...

So, after chatting about the DCLB I found last weekend, I now know that the 2nd gen DCLB was never available with the TRD Off-Road package; I found this 2010 DCLB SR5 at a buy here pay here lot across from Bennett Toyota. It is not in bad condition at all, though I've seen plenty of similar trucks in much better condition; This particular example has almost 170K miles, and the interior smells like the previous owner may been a smoker. The lack of a scooped hood is a dead giveaway that this truck is not a TRD Sport; As stated above, the truck was not in particularly bad condition, but clues like tear in the driver's seat upholstery gave me the overall impression that it did not lead an easy life with the previous owner...

Quoted is the truck I saw at the Expo Center last weekend, and below is a picture of this 2010 DCLB's fake TRD Off-Road sticker...

 

I scanned the QR code on the window sticker and was immediately directed to a credit application site...

I found a 2010 DCLB at a buy here pay here lot with the doors unlocked, and found that it was not equipped with the locking rear diff...

 

$20K; Seems like a good deal, but the miles!!!

 

Strange..that said, the hood itself doesn't shock me. Quite a few Sport owners I have known wanted to swap for a non-Sport hood.

 

Yes, but why would someone put TRD Off-Road stickers on a TRD Sport? I think this one is just an SR5 with custom wheels and a heavy front bumper...
