Under the hood...

 

The interior still smelled new!

 

I was always under the impression that all 1993-1998 Supras came from the factory with an AM/FM CD/cassette combo, at least until I saw this car; This one has what appears to be a factory AM/FM stereo with a single CD player, and as you can see it also has an ashtray or something underneath the head unit.

Been a Toyota fan boy since I bought my first truck in 1987 but the fact that Toyota ever thought Scion was a good idea looses them a bit of cred with me.

I believe that the blue one I saw at Bennett Toyota is an XSE, but I do not know for sure; I saw this red 2019 Corolla XSE at a buy here pay here lot across the street from the Toyota dealer...

Typical of many dealers I've seen lately; Price not listed on the window sticker...

I scanned the QR code on the window sticker of a 2010 Tacoma this same dealer had on the lot, and it brought me to an online credit application...

 

Finally went to their website and found the asking price; Ridiculous, as to be expected for a late model Toyota in this market...

 

What the hell's wrong with Scion? I actually like the 1st Gen XBs, and FR-S (now called the Toyota 86 and I believe still sold as the Subaru BRZ) is incredibly fun to drive! The XA and it's successor, the XD, were not my favorite vehicles in the Scion lineup; However, my cousin had a 2006 Scion XA that she bought used in 2009 with like 90K miles on it. The original owners drove a lot for work and took great care of it; My cousin bought it for $6,500 cash and drove it for five years. It NEVER had a problem; It had something like 160K on the clock when she sold it in 2014 shortly after buying a 2013 Honda CR-V as its replacement.

 

My friend had a XA which I drove quite a few times..when we went to concerts we would all meet at her house and take the one vehicle, which I was the wheelman for

So, everybody's probably wondering how I ended up so far from home; @Squatting Pigeon and @Taco critter already know the story...

I drove all the way to Lebanon for a cruise night that got rained out even though it was barely raining, and it had stopped by the time I got to the steakhouse where it was being held; Determined not to let the trip become a total loss, I did a little research and found out that there was a Toyota dealer less than 2 miles away! That is where I found the blue 2019 Corolla hatchback you see above; I found this 1988 Corolla wagon at a Munro Muffler and Brake not far from Bennett Toyota. This car has clearly been here for a few years because the tires are flat and the inspection stickers expired in August 2019; However, aside from the obvious rust, the car appeared to be incredibly clean and it likely would not take much to get it back on road. This white 1988 wagon is much cleaner that the red one I saw at Sloane Toyota back in January, and I know exactly why it's sitting here; A friend of mine used to work at a Munro in Warminster. He had an early 1980s Chevy C10 with a rare factory 6.2L diesel engine; He did not have the space for it at his apartment, so he was allowed to keep it at work. This white Corolla likely belongs to a Munro employee who doesn't have the space to keep it at home, and doesn't have the time to get it roadworthy, so here it sits...

Once I buy a house, I'm going to start leaving my contact info on these potential diamonds in the rough that I keep finding!

I saw this 1994 Corolla DX wagon when I got off the turnpike, and it was still there when I headed back to the turnpike to go back home, so I stopped and took pictures. At first I thought it was for sale, as this parking lot had a beat up Saturn Ion with a flat tire in it that looked like it had been there for a while; However, I believe that this is a parking lot for some sort of nature trail, and the owner of this car was out hiking. This car, despite being newer than the white 1988 wagon and having valid inspection stickers, did not seem to be in much better condition; This is far from being the worst looking 1990s Corolla I've ever seen, but it is also far from being the best. However, wagons of this generation are extremely hard to find in this area, so my standards are lower. I've lost count of how many 1993-1997 Corolla sedans I've taken pictures of in the last five years or so, but I believe that this is only the third wagon I've seen since 2019 (not including the JDM 1996 Carib wagon I saw at a show last year)...

I remember when a neighbor from my previous neighborhood 15 years ago brought home his new purple XB and was eager to show it off. I didn't have the heart to tell him I thought it was a hideous box of a thing... and it was purple no less.

I'm not saying the Scion wasn't a reliable vehicle mechanically. I mean hell its still a Toyota but in my opinion it was not an incredibly attractive line up
