Hey just got a quick question, my 07 tacoma driver side door speaker went out, along with the back right. The truck only has 94,000 easy miles on it and i’m not sure why they would be damaged. Do you think it could be loose wiring and if so how could I go about fixing them?

    Thanks

You’re saying drivers front and passenger rear speakers aren’t working? Or you calling back right, uh, I’m lost. Right as in if seated in the drivers seat or right as if standing in front of the radiator looking at the windshield?

Did they both stop working at the same time?

Old head units can go out, I’ve had some die completely, or one function would stop working like can’t change radio stations down only up, or can’t change the tone settings, or can’t reset the clock & gotta disconnect the battery and reconnect it right at noon.

Sorry this wasn’t much help, clarifying right passenger left drivers sides might help someone provide a better answer.

Sorry for the confusion. It’s actually the passenger front, and passenger rear. I also have a newish pioneer touch screen head unit paired with 2 12 inch kicker comp subs, not sure if that would affect anything.

Just do it right, get 4 nice new speakers and get a nice 4 channel amp and put it under the back seat. Run RCA wires from the head unit to the amp and good quality speaker wires to your new speakers. Easy peezy! And after you hear it you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner

Are the speakers run of an amp, or off the deck? If deck, my first suggestion is to pull the deck, swap the DS and PS wires. If the problem switches sides it’s the amp in the deck.

My driver side door factory lower speaker just went out but the tweeter still works. It’s time to replace them all if they are still factory like mine. Don’t bother trouble shooting. Crutchfield sells all kinds of replacement aftermarkets which will sound much better and they can help with installation. All price ranges and even the lower end speakers will sound better than the original factory ones. If you have never done it before don’t sweat it because it’s an easy install.

Based on the quality of my JBL Toyota head, I’d consider broken speakers an improvement.

Oh yeah, replace the head unit if it hasn’t been already. Huge difference there alone.

I’m in agreement with those saying replace. You’ll be amazed how tiny the magnet is on the stock speakers. When I upgraded, the sound quality jump was similar to going from am radio to cd.

If you don’t have the funds, you could start by digging in, get access to one of the speakers not working, connect a speaker that you know works. If you don’t have one, pick up a cheapie speaker from an electronics store. Or pull the head unit out, look to see if something came unplugged, or wires damaged. Then check continuity of the wires from the head unit to the speakers. If possible swap the output wires at the head unit, if the issue switches sides, then remove the head unit and throw it away. There’s plenty of fantastic aftermarket replacements. With supply chain issues these days, availability could be an issue. It’s nice to have hands free phone, text, navigation, backup camera along with better sound.
