Trying to change the cabin air filter, but the roll cage prevents the glove box from opening. Anyone have any suggestions for other ways to access the filter, or how to remove the glove box? 20220403_115142.jpg

I'm guessing the bar doesn't unbolt from the rest of the cage?

Any one have recommendations on paint for sliders than won't instantly fall off when crap gets flung at them? Bed liner also seems like the obvious answer for a tough coating, but it seems a lot of the ones in spray cans are also mediocre

Might try clear on top, since I cleared my LCAs are rebuilding them and its holding up really well. Although they aren't directly in the path of flinging crap

Ryan, try Dupli-Color Rust Barrier in the gloss version. Wont say it's perfect, but easy to apply and holds up well. Matter of fact I typically have a can of matte and a can of gloss in the garage to put on whatever.

Auto Zone carries it too. It's another reason I like it.

I did my bumper with bedliner from "Monstaliner." Two coats. I'm probably going to do my sliders in that stuff to. My rush job is starting to show. I think I'm going to have a local shop sand blast and powder coat primer on. Then the bedliner.

Tiajuana jail for a few hours because my bud and I didn't have enough money to give to the federalies back in the early 90s. It was piss and shit in the corner with 30 mexicans fighting the few a holes off. As jarheads, shore patrol came and got us at 8 the next morning (that was maybe 4 hours in there total). We explained what happened and they did notify our command, but also stated it was something they saw a lot of lately and that we were not intoxicated. Just wrong place......obviously. All Military were off limits to TJ soon after that I recall, but don't remember when exactly. So, NO U.S. record....just my fearful late night of being caged with drunks in a foreign country. Thailand is the other story I'll save for later. lol

sounds like you have a surface issue if paint is coming off that quickly. I suggest you take the sliders off and hit it with 50-100 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface. You need a surface profile that will allow the paint to adhere (like micro mountains where paint can get into the crevices). Then because this is steel, I suggest you stay away from undercarriage coatings because these are sliders....that kinda defeats the purpose of sliding....and use a zinc heavy spray paint that you can get at an auto store. This will do two things for you: 1. protect your sliders from rust since zinc is an organic self sacrificing add and 2. allow for good adhesion of paint for long term.
    Just my opinion sir.

I was trying to avoid it, but I can't find any other way. It's not like I use the glovebox anyway, right?
