Couple new tools for me over the past little bit....

First is an assortment of "fluid movers". A drill operated transfer pump, .5 quart "syringe", and a 2 quart "syringe" Gotta say the syringes are quite nice to have. Makes things like ATF, power steering, brake fluid changes quick and easy.

Next up I picked up some Wiha large ratcheting wrenches that were on sale for a good price. A 18mm to 30mm metric set and a 13/16" to 1-1/2" set. Have to say Im impressed with the quality so far.

The metric set fits in the toolbox on the wrench rails, but the SAE set is a bit to big.

Also picked up these olsa tools screwdriver holders to try out. So far...i like them. We will see after some use though

And finally....my "big toolbox" is getting to full so time to bring the service cart back into service. Something Ive been meaning to do for awhile. It will house mostly "basic" tools and have the majority of my 3/8 drive sockets and possibly 1/4 too. Basic idea is the cart should handle a good 75% of work.

Syphoning fuel is for the idiots. Disconnect fuel supply line and provide power to the fuel pump and let it do the work for you

Scored this at the thrift shop. $15. The previous owner cut the housing off on the right side to fit in the wire wheel lol
I wanted a wire wheel so this works out well. Need to buy a stand i think for it. I'll clean it up a bit more, adjust the guards, etc.

Depending on your space, you could mount it to a board and then clamp the board to your workbench when you are using it.

Super cool old lathe. Picking up a mill and lathe have been one of my favorite tools to date.

Picked up a set of thin wrenches, too many times I’ve needed them and not had which would have saved me. Now that I have them I’ll probably never need them

Got some time yesterday to hang rear trailer doors while the kiddo was sleeping..

Favorite tool in the shop by far is my portaband in the swag table.
It’s the go to for almost everything.

Because horizontal surface tends to attract “stuff” what recommendations to cover top of roller chest ? Just keeping it closed it collects dust (pine pollen is rough currently) but it won’t take long to set something else on it that will scratch the hell out of it. Found a roll of silicone sheet on ‘zon but it’s white/translucent and inthink black would be more suitable but haven’t found that yet.
Spraying with some sort of bed liner hasn’t been ruled out ( not commercially applied, would cost as much or more than the box)
    Ideas ?

I'm in the market for one of those modular rolling tool storage boxes, like the milwaukee packout. I have HF 5 cart toolbox that I really like for at my house, but I find myself needing to bring my tools around to my parent's, buddy's place to wrench together, and in particular this summer across the country for an internship. The current transportation method is to toss them all in a 5gal bucket, so I'm looking to have a better system of organizing my tools when I take them on the road.

The milwaukee packout itself is out of consideration because its really expensive compared to the other options. Mostly looking at the Husky or Rigid versions because they seem to offer essentially the same thing (a box on wheels with more boxes that clip on) for a much lower price. I really like where every tool has a specific home, so you know when something is missing or not put away. I'm thinking that I'd want the shallowest box pieces and use kaizen foam, or any generic alternative organizer foam, to fit into the boxes. by having the shallow boxes, I could further organize based on application like wrenches, sockets, etc. Since they all seem to come with a big bottom box, that would be either for bigger tools or multiple foam layers of hand tools. Looks like husky has much more variety of modular piece options than rigid and its the least expensive of the three, so currently its my top choice

Stuff like being watertight, lockable, etc aren't really a concern since it won't be on an actual jobsite. The tools that will be going in will mostly be mechanics tools like wrenches, sockets/extensions, impact, drill, hammers, and a few other misc items. No big items like a circular saw or reciprocating saw.

I'm looking for some feedback on using the mobile tool organizers as a whole, my plan with the foam, or any alternative suggestions. Thanks in advance!

One of the downsides of those systems is that you have to remove the top boxes every time you want something in a lower box which can be a pain. If you can find a system that has drawers in the lower boxes, it will be much more convenient. This is what I have heard - I don't have any first hand experience myself.

I made a stand from junk for portable grinder/wire wheel/vise. I put those $5.00 HF wheels on it so it's easy to move around. The wheels are about an inch off the ground until I tilt the stand back towards me to roll it.

The grinder is just bolted to a piece of square tubing. Easy to lift out when I want to use the vise for something else.

This little rig has really come in handy over the years. I like to work outside the garage. I use the vise quite a bit for holding small things getting welded.

Only down side is with narrow base, the vise has limited use since you tip it over if you crank hard on something held in the vise. I have a bench mounted vise for those needs.
