Gas yard tools

What brand of gas yard tools do you trust, had problems in the past with etc.

 

Have an electric blower, hedger and blower. Gas briggs and stratton mower for 13 years, still runs like a champ, even used it this past weekend.

 

For the home I prefer Echo, they are readily available reasonably priced.

 

I would stay away from Murray lawn mowers.

Echo is great.

 

I dump all my gas yard equipment 2 years ago and went with Echo. They work great. I just got tired of always having to refill that gas can. It takes me 5-6 hours to do my yard and haven’t had any issues with battery life. I have their mower, blower, weeder and edger.

 

I use Stihl / thread.

 

Stihl, husqvarna, and Shindawai which is echo. I don’t discriminate

 

Some folks will talk up Stihl. I always get their shit models. The FS 45 whacker has been nothing but a headache. Chainsaw died awhile back. I know they make good stuff. My luck, not so much.

Last year in went 80V. Greenworks PRO. Two blowers, chainsaw, whacker...............all superb.

I have a Gravely ZT mower (love it now, had some OOB issues). Honda mower (years old great). Old trusty and great Troybuilt Horse tiller.

Ive had zero issues with stihl stuff i have. Poulan i chucked a chainsaw into the woods, died/ engine froze with maybe 6 starts/uses. Craftsman chainsaw was a little better but still ended up dying on me.

 

I use to be all Stihl, but my last weed eater that was a total dud I went to Echo for weed eating and blowing duties. My chainsaw is a cheap Ryobi, but I don't use it enough to warrant a "good" one.

My rider is a Cub Cadet (MTD) and has a Kohler V-Twin. Push mower is a Honda, so naturally has a Honda engine. I'm done with Briggs engines, my last one was problem after problem...

 

Battery longevity is my main concern with those tools. i have 1/2 acre and summer time operating temps are often 90+ i know heat kills batteries

 

I had problems with my last Briggs on a mower, kohler is hard to beat

 

We got one of those wagons, can pull behind mower too so thats nice

 

I have an EGO 18" chain saw and a larger Stihl. My daughter has an EGO mower, blower, and trimmer. All are fine tools. On my chain saw the battery runs down about the same time I do. And the EGO starts first time every time.

 

Exactly. And dumps are a breeze.

 

I had two batteries and a whacker. Hotter than HELL. ALL day. Just charge, use, charge use.............every once in awhile let them cool. Batteries still good. We are over an acre.

That said: Batteries are EXPENSIVE.

 

As I stated, it must be hit and miss = model design. I think when they aim for the lower cost models, they just are not stout. I don't hate on Stihl though. Would consider at any point.

 

Expensive and they are proprietary and will change battery tech and design before the tool has lost its usuful life span. Gas now is universal for all engines across the board but the cost is its variable. that adds to my hesitation.

 

Yeah let's see - there already is an aftermarket for batteries so that lowers risk a bit.
