I absolutely luv college gymnastics. There are lots of reasons why, but the main reason is because the outcome ultimately comes down to who can shoulder pressure, and tonight the University of Utah’s Kara Eaker and Maile O’keefe did just that.

You know how it is….the rain hits this old lake bottom and washes a quarter of it away and turns the rest to baby shit.

this is the solution I came up with for a customer. The composite bed is great until you ask it to support weight on the top rails. Tied it all back down to the frame. No issue with the bed moving because it is mounted straight to the frame of the truck as well.

The bed mount to the frame seems to be the consensus.

tubes straight through the bed and welded to the frame. The sub structure below is the coilover mounts and fuel cell mount, then tent rack above.

So definitely not a more permanent solution...

I could never do something like that as I need my truck bed to do truck bed things from time to time but if it works for your customer then great!

Surprised they don't just full cage and 4 link rear at that point if they're already basically going buggy....

Looks like good quality work though. GMAW or GTAW?

That’s a full bed cage and 4link rear, but with a still somewhat usable bed.

What do you mean it isn’t a more permanent solution? Seems like it’s pretty permanent to me. It is 4 linked as well. Kept the factory bed trying to keep it as functional as possible. All Mig welded.

Anyone seen this around town? I’d love to know what’s hiding under there, seems like the van version of a rat rod.

I had two unfinished thoughts that collided there...

Definitely not removable, and, a more permanent solution.

    :bananadead:

So it is coiled and linked dope, only further adds to my confusion as to why they would want to keep the bed but alright then.

Looks really good, what machine are you using?

My personal truck is set up the same way (kept the bed). I've done both full back half and linking with keeping the bed. Kinda depends on how you want to use your truck. I kept the bed in mine for ease of packing tools, parts and camping gear. full back half is more suitable for pure off roading and less camping out of it.

The third option is also a great option for keeping all the storage space is doing a 3 link and keeping the factory gas tank in the same spot. Exactly what I did for this customer on his 2009 4Runner running the same 16” coilovers.

Red truck is mine and purple truck is one that I did with a full back half.

Miller 252. It's a great machine that runs and runs without hitting duty cycle.

    Man that is the hotness!

What's the little fan/radiator on top of the fuel cell in the red one?

You got some great work my dude.

Purple truck looks like Pro-Am Baja.

Thanks! Linking trucks and putting big shocks back there is my favorite kind of work to do. The purple truck is coming back to get the full bedsides, spare tires mount and rear bumper next month. then it will look mint.

The fan is my transmission cooler. big 16 pass cooler with a thermostat to kick the fan on and off. Keeps my trans right at 165-185 then when pushing the truck hard the hottest it has gotten is 212 at the torque converter.

Looking for some backcountry route/travel advice in South Utah. I am coming from Idaho in a couple of days and working my way down the east side of Nevada & then into Utah on Highway 56 towards Newcastle and Cedar City. Going to spend a couple of days in that area with the goal of seeing as much country as possible via 2/4H kind of roads (not hardcore 4lo) - any suggestions?.
Am camping out of my rig and not going to do much touristy stuff so am very mobile in a wandering sort of way. The next loose objective is to head SE and explore the Staircase/Glen Canyon (Staying in Utah) and eventually ending up at the Valley Of the Gods just West of Bluff, Utah
Looking for suggestions on backcountry route(s) and things to do and see along the way in the Staircase as it appears that i wiil eventually need to end up going N on Highway 12 to Torrey, East on Highway 24 to Hanksville and then SE on 95 to the Valley of The Gods? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks!

Anyone have info on Fixit Pass in the Swell? I hear it was unfixed by storms last fall and wondering about road conditions now.

Sounds like a fun time. The backside of GBNP has a lot of good mild-offroady camping spots.

Highly recommend taking a small detour to visit Cedar Breaks/Brian Head if in the area. The view is incredible and its a 30 foot walk from the truck.

The small ski town of Brian Head has a pizza joint named Pizano's and a asian place next to it. Both are quite good.

Backerei Forscher in Orderville is worth the stop for a pastry if you find yourself that far south. As well, Escobar's in Kanab is good for fish tacos too last I visited.

The area around Coyote Buttes is good for a day hike into buckskin Gulch from wire pass, etc. Then you could take Cottonwood Canyon Rd (if the conditions are good, call the Paria Ranger station first) up to the east side of Bryce Canyon.

I actually had selected Cedar Breaks so thanks for that confirmation and the rest of the suggestions.... Appreciate it.
