    Hello everyone,
I'm interested if anyone has had experience with successfully installing the BAMF IFS Skid plate with a front differential drop?

    https://www.bayareametalfab.com/2005-2022-Toyota-Tacoma-IFS-Skid_p_56.html

I currently have the Rough Country 3" suspension lift that comes with (i believe) a 1/2" diff drop by way of spacers.

I've asked BAMF if they know if this works and was told that it doesn't but wondering if spacers could also be used to give enough clearance underneath. It seems like there has to be some sort of solution, other than removing the diff spacers... which I'm sure someone will mention :lalala:

    Thanks

If you insist on keeping the RC lift with dif drop; you can add spacers to the skids. Understand this is non standard DIY mod to an aftermarket mod that Toyota would not recommend.

That full skid system is nice but the BAMF is 1/4", there is a pretty big difference in tensile strength. Not to mention the reinforcement in the front on this.

Holy moly the 12 year old post on DD's! Didn't want to open a can of crawlers on this over it but it still looks like it's 50/50 on whether to use em. I don't agree that this is justification for not using DD's.

remove the diff drop. If you're using aftermarket CVs and installed the diff drop to prevent binding, switch to OEM to prevent binding.

I'd argue the gusseting on the skid is more important than the thickness, although in this case the thicker one is also the gusseted one

Tensile strength is also a material property, so unrelated to thickness. The amount of force the skid can support would be a better comparison between two skids of the same material, but different thicknesses

If your wheeling where you'll get some use out of a skid plate I would think the last thing you'd want to do is lower it with spacers.
