I’ve got mine on a orvis recon and I can’t complain about the rod or the reel and probably due to the action I think I miss less fish. My backup rod is a 4w cabelas combo and it is very slow action I’m toying with the idea of a better rod to go with that reel.

Phew! It’s been another short bit. New condo coming together nicely! Paint is this close |——| to being done. One small section in the kitchen and some touch up detail that I’ll get to some other time.

to whomever suggested this tool, I love you and owe you a drink!

one last light fixture and mirror to hang. (3 pendants, 2 vanity and 2 ceiling fans hung already).
New thermostat going in tomorrow. Fly home on Wednesday, staying over in Flag. Pick up uhaul on Thursday morning. Load Thurs and Fri. Then headed east. Again. After unloading, spending the remainder of the week in OMA with the husband. Lots of exploring to do!

@Marty65 got any recommendations for an entry level fly rod combo to see if it’s something I might enjoy. I don’t want to spend Orvis money but don’t want one that will just frustrate me either. I will use it from my kayak and from shore.

im no fisher-person, but I got a Tenkara rod and just love it! Perfect for carrying any/everywhere. These are rainbow, fresh out of Bright Angel Creek in the Grand Canyon (on a backpacking trip)

I've been eyeing a Hane for a while now. Most versatile for the type of small rivers/streams I'm usually around. Haven't fished in years but I've gotten the itch. So many times the last couple of years I had to just stand and stare at the fishes as i didn't have anything to snag them with.
They have a rod picker guide. doesn't mean you have to buy the brand, just helps you narrow down the options for the type of terrain you'll most likely see.

My cabelas combo is a 4w rls and I still fish it occasionally. It’s inexpensive cast well and you won’t be heartbroken if something happens to it. And the reel is of good enough quality I’m considering buying a better rod and putting it on it.
