Ok, I'll take a look as I get closer to buying. Still interested in looking into a Speeduino as a cheaper alternative.
I do have experience with TxSuite for the Trionic ECU that came on Saabs though.

 

The thing about haltech and Gabe is he does everything with the setup on the tune.
You have live support from haltech and Gabe so your never lost or stuck unlike most everything else out there with little to no support

 

Good and bad for me haha. I like doing everything myself, but it would be nice to have someone for those little hiccups.

I'd probably get the 2000 btw, based on my analysis. 10% more $ and seems like more than 10% better features hah

 

Well when the tune is being done you can watch every step and ask as many questions as you need so you would understand it better as it’s being done live.
It’s not cheap but it probably has a descendant resale value if you sell your truck later or you can take it to another vehicle too. It would totally change your torque and power numbers regardless and he deals with turbos all day long and sells them

 

How much does ongoing tuning time cost with Gabe?

 

You have to ask him what that would be with what options you decide on.
My situation was a little different because of some software issues at startup and some hiccups that were not expected.

I finally joined this club this past weekend. Installed a new Magnuson supercharger, some 650 cc Denso injectors, NGK Ruthenium FR7BHX-S spark plugs and a Haltech Elite 2000 computer. Started on Friday evening and finished up on Sunday afternoon.

 

Well? Impressions?

 

It is obviously a huge step up. But I am sure there is still a lot of untapped potential in it.

While it did actually start and run on first start up with the preloaded base map, it would not idle on its own. With a laptop with the Haltech software installed, we were able to make some tweaks to improve the situation but the transition to and from idle is still not quite right. It seems like the IAC is not playing nice with that base tune. The AFRs are spot on.

I did drive it home to Seattle from my friends place in Spokane where we did the install and the highway driveability is great. It looks like the engine is healthy and strong, a bit of a concern since it has over 200K on the clock. I saw over 6 psi in high load situations. And of course, the sound is glorious.

 

Awesome. I love my Haltech and I’m always interested in initial thoughts. If you don’t mind, let us know what changes to your tune fixes your issues, when the time comes. Maybe we should start a new thread for sharing information for those with the Haltech.

 

Great news! You have lots of potential power left there.
For me the haltech is hands down one of my best mods with a perfect AFR all the time regardless and all that supercharger power coming on at 2krpms instead of waiting for open loop at 3500rpms or if the ECU even goes into open loop.

With my setup I ran into a number of hiccups but once worked though them it’s a game changer.
Original PFI speed did my tune. The tune was good but I ended up having Gabe rework the tune and ended up with better results.
The final tune is where you will get all that potential power getting those better timing numbers.
I would highly recommend Gabe to do a remote fine tune as he knows these motors inside out and what to do.

Because the power band comes on at 2krpms with the haltech the need to run at higher rpms is not needed anymore, no more closed loop power Starvation anymore

only issue I’m having that needs to be adjusted is when the temperature is above 70 degrees I can sell gas coming from the charcoal canister. So that needs to be adjusted in the setup through the haltech still.
