I really wanted a 44 but didn't need a big saw, and prices on those are ridiculous. At least now if I feel I do need one I won't feel guilty about just getting a 66 instead

I work in forestry and the li ion batteries do not like the cold.

hard to beat the quick reving husky IMO.

the 462 stihl cuts firewood with ease.

I've got an ms440 and I rarely use it. Its just so dang heave compared to my 026. I have to really be getting into some big stuff if I'm busting that thing out.

Here's a little more saw pr0n of the MS 291 chewing on that blackjack oak. Those rounds were every bit of 50lbs/ft. Almost broke me down lifting them off the loader bucket on to the woodpile. Super dense and hard wood.

Was bucking up some trees today and hit a nail with my brand new chain :annoyed:

Hoping to get these 2 trees down before summer time. Plan is to use my winch with a snatch block off of the stump in front of it.

In what ways have you found the 291 better? I have a 290 that is showing its age.

Lighter, faster, seems like it spools up quicker. I had no problems making carb adjustments without a tach. Just overall feels like a modernized version. I'd look for a 261 if you're wanting to really upgrade to something awesome

Someone local was selling a Stihl 461 with a 36” bar. If I was young and had more disposable income.

Clearing our local river of strainers and jams - while leaving plenty of habitat.

not sure of this husqy model but its sick. So much immediate torque - great power ban and light.

I second the 261. I sold my 290 for a 261 and its night and day. Same power essentially but lighter, more balanced and seems to pull harder.

That's not even a fair comparison. The 290 is a homeowners saw with 3 and a half hp with plastic all over. The 261 is a pro saw, has 4hp, aluminum case. If patient can find them used for about the same price, but the 261 is a gem

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
You will come to love the 261 -they are great saws. I think you may still may be able get them without the M-tronic ignition system --Cheaper but-- DON"T DO it!! -stick with the M-tronic
Mine has it and it is a great system. It is a little bit different from the standard carb/choke system, but the positives are worth the slight learning curve.
The M-tronic's are the 261CM version

my 261 is carbed, I had called around to dealers trying to find one in stock and didn't even pay attention to which it was. I would have been happy with either as I can tune a saw. It has been great the last 2 years. Some say ill toss the 18" bar on it and see if it does "wake up" as some say. the 20" pulls quite well for my needs bucking firewood.
