It concentrates the force on a smaller area, it’ll probably just break the bolt off, but still.

and the angle of impact is probably all sorts of wonky now

    @Yota X

Cut those pieces from those blueprints

    20220404_085039.jpg

Bent some flat bar for the legs, and drilled/tapped the bracket that goes onto the side. Also welded that flat stock inside one of those square tubes then mocked it up.

    20220405_072703.jpg

Not a huge fan of multiprocessors but w.e.

    20220405_103345.jpg

    20220405_103354.jpg

I welded the longer extension to it as shown in the mock up, just didn't get a picture as I was leaving.

    Should be finishing it tomorrow.

The part that takes up time is sharing the press brake, or grinding out those damn notches in the fire grates. At least the tapped hole came out perfect.

you realize the welded nut on the inside of the control arm only ever breaks off when the bump stop is loose right?

The bumpstop being tight pulls the nut toward the control arm and any force applied by the bunpstop is applied to the control arm and not the nut

That nut is only there to hold it in place not transfer any energy is the message I meant to send with that

Hence why you can have that but break off inside and still have the bumpstop do it's job

Either way, you’re putting more energy onto a smaller already.

    LCA’s already have problems

I want to get rid of the truck but I got it for 1600 bucks and I know the ~1200 dollar lower control arms and ~500 uppers don't add value to such a shitbox

Would you be interested in a package deal for spcs and solos?

I guarantee you the x-axis bushings have zero play and are still tight

The ball joints felt loose out the box so I can't say they're tight but they don't have any play and have always been over greased

A shop hit something in my truck on a test drive after an alignment and dinged the frame to where it's pushed in about 1/16 of an inch it chafing one of the bushings on the lcas but won't cause a problem

same reason my ex believed in horoscopes, tarot card readings, etc. Like jaxon said it gives them a means to blame or project, have excuses, etc
