Anyone tint their front windows 50%? 35 and 20% seem to be common, but I could not find any pictures of 50% tint. I just want some UV protection and don't want to attract any LEOs. Post up your pictures!

I was thinking the same thing. The tint guy actually recommended 50% if I wanted to do the windshield.

He's talking about the windshield, not the side windows. I'm thinking about doing my windshield in 50%. I already have 15% on my side windows.

Edit: whoops my bad, re-read the post, he is talking about the side windows.

OP, if you are worried about issues with LEO's then go as dark as you can go and still be legal.

In GA the limit is ~30%, I personally have 15% on my side windows. I have had illegal tint on all my vehicles. I have gotten one warning for the tint on my tacoma about 1.5 years ago, on my last car I had 3 tickets over 6.5 years. Depending on the municipality, around here the fines are only $60-80, worth the risk IMO. if you total up the 3 tickets I paid on my last car, that's still less than it would have cost to have the illegal tint removed and replaced with legal tint.

Yah I meant the side windows, driver and passenger door. CA special as it were, as we are not supposed to tint the front windows at all. Just wanted to see if others have had it done and if they like it.

i run 50% tint on all my vehicles. i run a light blue tint called suntek hp50. they have a charcoal tint too, but i prefer the light blue. it's BARELY visible, but still offers 45% heat rejection and 99.X% UV rejection.

i don't care about hiding out or privacy, but i do care about UV protection and heat. i find the slight light blue compliments many colors, just like it does on mercedes (the hp50 looks identical to mercedes glass). it's a very high tech look, albeit slight.

so, the point is there is a difference to be had with just 50% tint.

in NJ, you are not allowed any tint on the front windows. i've never been pulled over for tint, ever.

I put 50% on the fronts and it does a great job of cutting down the heat and glare. If you're trying to hide from groupies it's not for you as it's not all that dark. I don't have any pictures of my truck though.

This is 50%. There was no shading at all on the stock windows. It really doesnt look like much. Kinda wish I went darker, but its definitey better then how they were.

and does 50% mean that 50% of the light can shine through or that 50% of the light is blocked? :anonymous:

some of this, a little of that
Here ya go. 50% tint is better than no tint, but not as good as a matching film. It's still functional, in that it helps keep the cab cool on bright summer days. I like it.

    other way around.

think about 5% tint...doesn't block 5% of the light - it lets 5% through.

    :D

i think the 50% in this thread looks great. it's not enough to get in trouble but enough to be effective at heat and UV protection.

Screw it. If you do a bit of a search you'll find a couple of threads where people have gone 5% (and even 2.5% if I remember correctly) ALL the way around...yes windshield included.

Great pictures, I think I will do the 50% tint especially since mrs. juggernaut makes me park outside, would love the UV protection.

As far as 2.5% is concerned, not a chance haha. A buddy of mine had limo tint like that and had to roll down the windows at night to pull out onto the street safely, not appreciated during freezing winter nights!
