I've been flashing tunes for 3 yrs and I never used a battery tender. If your battery is charged up and not old I don't see you needing one. But if you need a battery tender - go for it.

    **GPatriot** Flashed the Pro+ today

Are the shift points on the Pro+ as thoroughly vetted as the regular Pro? Or should anyone receiving the + anticipate a less predictable tune? Thanks in advance, really appreciate your insight!

**edited to clarify that this was performed by a licensed tuner**

The KDMax-Pro+ is being ran by 100's of trucks. It is predictable and logical shift points.
When did you buy the files? We don't have record of you.

Thank you. GPatriot performed the tune at an event this afternoon. Your comment about the different shift points altering things just gave me pause. I'll be towing with the vehicle in the upcoming year so the Pro+ was recommended to me by John

    Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
It will be great for towing. Keep us posted.
If you need more control when towing, try SMode and ECT. But you should be good in Drive if it is not too heavy.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that the truck would still drop to 5th and rev up to maintain speed. Is it similar to what it was doing with 4th gear before the regear? Ah.. I had such high hopes for a regear.

Haven't tried Pro+ yet but I just got back from a 1200+ mile trip to Mojave Road and back with my new 5.29 gears and light tip pro tune (for 5.29s). Truck did really great. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was how well this tune handles ECT mode on big inclines. It seemed to help significantly where I noticed little improvement before the tune (although I've been running some variant of the KD tunes for a long time now).

Yup thats correct it does the same thing like stock gears would do. Instead of jumping between 5th and 4th. It jumps between 6th and 5th. Stock gearing my truck would cruise 5th ~2000rpm highway IF road was perfectly flat no wind. Now I cruise ~2300 rpm 6th. I knew I would lose mpg with the increased rpm but I was just hoping the extra rpm would be enough to keep it from shifting around and locked in 6th.

I will be in Natchez Mississippi this Saturday tuning a few trucks at the Stine Hardware Parking lot.
If anyone is interested, PM me. I will be there starting at 11am.
It would be nice to see a parking lot full of Tacomas!!

    Hi All!

I haven't tried KDMAX yet but have some questions:

Been trying a bunch of tunes and I'm still not satisfied with the performance. The big issue for me is shift points - I feel like, even with the improved power from tunes, the shift points for 4,5,6 are WAY too early.

What I am noticing is that right after a tune, they are pretty good. As the truck learns, they very quickly return to levels that are suboptimal: like 4th at 40kph, 5th almost immediately afterwards and 6th below 70kph!!

Is it possible to fix these shift points? I could honestly care less about any other aspect of the tune. If only this truck never operated below 1800rpm while driving I would be so happy.
