2022 Tacoma Discussion (Canadian edition)

I had an allocation for a black 6MT but it got pulled by Toyota. My dealer did say it may get re allocated but chances are slim. Said there were only 20 6MT Pros for Canada.

 

Deposit since October on Black auto pro, not able to get it. Dealer had another colour allocated, agreed to that instead, got pulled recently. So likely will be 2023 and over a year wait.

 

This isn’t encouraging for me after placing an order for a black auto pro just recently.

 

They seem to give "allocations" around the 20th of each month. So couple weeks you may want to follow up and see if your dealer randomly got one. There doesn't seem to be a set way Toyota Canada drops these allocations across the country.

When I checked with an inventory manager last week there was only 1 black auto allocated for Canada that wasn't sold coming into Quebec for late June.

 

Thank you for that info, I’ll have to follow up. While I’d like the truck to arrive (June to August, I’m told) and be able to maximize my ‘16 4R Trail trade-in, I also don’t mind keeping the 4R with no payments and waiting to see what 2023 or even 2024 brings for the Tacoma Pro.

 

I heard yesterday that a local guy had a TRD OR Premium AG order canceled. I think it was ordered in Nov and was supposed to arrive in June..I'm getting more concerned about my Sport Prem LR(in transit)due to arrive Apr 19-23..I wish we could get all the tracking info they do in the States.

 

If it’s in transit, it has been built. I won’t get pulled

 

I hope you are right...the pessimist side of me is thinking(in transit) means it made it out of the assembly plant and is sitting in the fenced compound at the back of the plant waiting for blind spot monitor parts,or tires..etc...lol

 

I believe they leave the factory, then at yard processing (ie here’s seats and accessories added then in transit to the dealer

 

My ELG Pro got pushed again. Now mid May. In transit…….. whatever that means.
I’m starting to get discouraged and may look at other options. Not sure yet.
Dealers are in edmonton. I have 2 orders.

 

Is having multiple orders/deposits the best strategy? Are people’s deposits refundable? Can Toyota see the same person has multiple orders and cancel them?

 

20 across all colours for 2022? Or, 20 more coming?

 

I asked all of these questions. All of my deposits are fully refundable at any time. And no Toyota can’t see multiple orders from the same person.

 

It depends. Also depends on the dealer. Out this way dealers are now wanting a 2k deposit to stop people from doing this. Also dealers talk and word gets around if someone has multiple deposits every where

I’m assuming Prairiecruser is from the same province as me. As I’m from Alberta. And all the dealers here wanted $1000 deposit. And all the dealers I have deposits at know I have deposits at multiple dealers. They don’t seem to care.

Just had a dealer in Alberta reach out to me about a 6MT truck. Told me they would only sell it to me with either 6k worth of accessories of my choice or pay a market adjustment of 2k on top of a $800 dealer fee.

 

I didn't think market adjustments were permitted in Canada?

 

There not. But really what can you do other then not buy it. It sucks for sure but at least he was honest about it I suppose. Said their profit margins are about 30% on accessories. So if I didn’t want them I would still have to pay. He said the GM has mandated that all Tacoma’s moving forward be sold with accessories unless it’s “ordered”.

I get it a bit. They have no new vehicles and a handful of used. Toyota just cut all the Tacoma Premiums and all their Pro’s. It looking like things are going to get worse yet.
