Any opinions on the 18in vs 24in M18 Fuel Hedge Trimmers?

Yeah, I bought the 24" trimmer last summer. A tad bit long for the general homeowner, but for someone who's going to use it commercially, it gets the job done fast.

New tool day at the shop. Not overly impressed with the pole saw, the transfer pump is yet to be used. It says it can only be used with clean water, but we'll see about that. Boss bought it to transfer oil from barrel to barrel, so I'll be able to see how that works for us. It's rated at 8gpm, so it's not the fastest thing in the world.

The pole saw has a lot of flex in the shaft, really feels like it needs a good stroke or two to get it really useable. It cuts through one inch fresh pine board alright, but our sawzall does better. The spot on the shaft it recommends you put the handle is terrible, in puts your hands too close together, and the weight of the pole with the saw on the end is too far extended to be easily controlled. In the photo you can see I installed the D handle on the second piece of shaft, the recommended spot is on the first shaft where the black square sticker is.

I'll update on how these survive industrial use as they get out to work. 0B317314-F642-4ECB-BA73-4E3B12C06A2D.jpg632495C2-0851-4D02-939F-0C735BFCBE80.jpg

I'm surprised they don't have different recommendations for handle placement for with and without the middle extension. The spot you picked looks good.

Long shot; anyone have an M12 or M18 Fuel drill they're willing to part with?

    Tool only, no battery.

Not looking for a hammer drill; I do see the bundles with hammer drills but they come with an impact (I have one) or ratchet (I have one too).

The hammer drill is only a hammer drill when you turn the torque setting to hammer, otherwise it’s just a drill. Not sure if that’s unclear to others just wanted to clarify.

This is a current deal. $99 with (1) 2ah battery.

    Thanks for that!

Wife just ordered it for me and it was only 89.10 + tax shipped to store.

Not all drivers are selectable though. My first M12 model wasn't. But that's ok. Bought another without.

I will say the hammer drill function is awesome for 3/16” holes for tapcons.

For those of you waiting for the Milwaukee track saw… Ryobi has one to be released soon so Milwaukee should be right behind them. No prices announced for the Ryobi one yet…

Noticed today while cutting some vinyl laminate flooring, that my M12 Jig Saw blade flexes way more than I prefer. Had used it many times before on decks, etc. and hadn't noticed that.

Wonder if the M18 barrel handle jig saw does the same??

Are you referring to the vinyl plank flooring that clicks together? If you are just making straight cuts and its convienent you can cut them with a miter saw as well which is what I did. I had a few cuts I did with a jig saw (cheap ryobi with a good bosch blade) I did not experience the issue you are referring to.

Does the cutting blade flex/ bend or is it the blade clamp and shaft that are flexing? Or is your blade roller not making contact with the blade of choice?

I’ve found that if my jigsaw or hackzal blade is bending I’m forcing the cut. I’m not saying you are, that’s just been my experience. What type of laminate is it? LVP or click in place composite?

Seems like the blade itself is flexing around the roller. I wasn't able to see any way to adjust. I notice slight play in that area.

I was cutting round cuts for baseboard heat pipes and for around the toilet. Also used it for a couple of short rips.
