There's already been a wildfire in Boulder, CO. Had to evacuate thousands of homes since it was right above a residential area. In freakin' March.

BTW: What are you shooting most of your pics with? Lookin super good.

Just a few more years of Southeast living, once the boy is out of high school and in college somewhere, it's time to be based full-time out West again.

iPhone 12 Pro Max. Nothing special. It's a major upgrade from the camera on my iPhone 7 i had until last year when it finally, thankfully died.

    Sunset ride last night.

Any suggestions on a well-performing dropper with great serviceability? I'm on my second '21 Fox Transfer Dropper that again is getting to be slow to return. I'll try the simple, remove the collar & grease trick but I looked at the full service guide and it's very in depth. Looks like the BikeYoke Revive has a simple service?

I really like my oneup dropper post. Easy travel adjustability and super reliable.
Haven't had to service it, but I hear it's pretty easy to do

Thats incredible! Such a good power output for that whole thing also! And he started so late too! So little light in December.

100 miles is like 40 laps?

Now my 30 doesn't seem too unobtainable.

Water is going to be a bigger obstacle. I plan on taking a backpack and stashing it with snacks and drinks and refueling as I need. My house is like 2 miles away from the lower parking lot. I may have my GF bring me supplies a couple times if I need anything. Luckily the top of the trail is right there at the road so no detours needed.

    Man I'm getting pumped!

Him, myself and a couple other friends Everested High Drive a couple years back - 26 times up the long side. It was fortunate we were able to park by the gate in order to keep our food close by.

You could always park at the top on Gold Camp.

Not sure if you tried out the Marlin yet, but they are really a great hardtail for getting into mountain biking.

I got my wife and I a set of used Marlin 6's last year, for an absolute steal, to see if we were even interested in MTB. I rode it a few times and got hooked.

Unfortunately, it was the wrong size for me (beginner mistake), so I ended up straight trading that Marlin 6 to a larger Marlin 7 with a guy a few hours from me.

I've upgraded the pedals, grips, bars, stem, seat, and added a dropper post. The latest upgrade was a MicroShift Advent X 1x drivetrain with a clutch, but half the fun of a hobby is working on it/upgrading it. Thankfully I'm still under what the bike cost new even with all the upgrades.

I'm nursing an ACL injury so I haven't tried out the new drivetrain on the trails, but I love the M7 and plan to keep it even after I purchase a full suspension at some point later this year. My wife is more than happy with her M6 as well.

I believe the new Marlin line all have 1x clutched drivetrains, which are basically the new MTB standard so I don't think you can go wrong!

    not enough.
    great photo!!!

but yes. +1 on the oneup. they're fairly well priced and very easy to service. you can get the parts straight from them. i've been seeing more and more problems with fox transfer droppers so i've been trying to shy away from them.

The trek store I went to by referral of a friend of mine had one Marlin, and it was a 5 size XXL :bananadead:

They are going to get back to me once they get some more stock in so I can go get sized properly for one and take a test drive. I’m excited to see it in person!

I just looked it up - that initial climb, holy cow! I think the most elevation I've done in a straight shot is +/-700', and remember it vividly lol.

Before I bought my first Marlin, I called every shop around me trying to find one and they said it would be a year or more before they got them in due to shortages. I had already decided that was the bike I wanted from a decent bit of research, so I searched used and managed to find a pair together and got one for the wife too for cheaper than one M6 new.

I've been very impressed with all three Marlins I've had hands on experience with so I don't think you'll be disappointed at all!

The M7 is where they start to add a better suspension with a RockShox fork vs the SR Suntour on the M6. Both are 100m coil spring forks, but the RockShox has the edge. Suntour has a trade in program if you wanted to upgrade in the future though.

It's not a $6K carbon full suspension, but for a ~ $1K hardtail I think it's one of the best on the market.

top of gold camp would be way bit too far away. they did a lot of work and theres no parking at the top of chutes anymore. the stratton lot would be the closest, about a mile down hill and a solid fire road back to the bottom/start of the loop.

everesting high drive would be a fun challenge too. maybe near the end of the summer or as prep work if i convince myself to do the apex.

There is still a pullout at chutes. Might be able to utilize that.

I’ve done plenty of 12hr races, 200+ miles races in every condition. Everesting on a MTB was the most difficult single day event I’ve ever done.

Trying to ride as much as possible in the next few weeks.
