    Good Morning Ladies and Gents,
I have a Lady friend who is wheelchair bound with limited mobility.
Is there a safe way for her to access a roof top tent?
Obviously, a ground tent can be used if not.
    Thanks!

Say she needs to use the latrine in the middle of the night. Can she climb a ladder up and down in the dark? If not, then most likely no. I would think a ground tent would make things much easier

I would have to agree that the ground tent is certainly the safest most convenient solution.
Not looking to lift her up, just an assist and added safety factor.
I was hoping that perhaps someone had already solved this.
I guess it was worth asking just in case.
    Thanks!

I've seen ramps set up to get small dogs up into RTTs, but I'd never try to hoist a human-sized thing up/down when a ground tent seems much safer/easier/cheaper.

    Either way, good luck!

Do you currently own an RRT?
If not, but are looking, maybe consider the go-fast camper type of shelters. The ones which you enter from the truck bed.
It would take a couple of steps (or ramp) on to the tail gate; and then a couple of steps into the camper from the truck bed floor (or intermediate platform in the bed). I have no idea what variation in distances (steps required) are envolved, but has to be less than an 8 step RRT ladder.

It's pretty cool that she is adventurous enough to consider camping. Good for her and good for you helping her find a way.

Way easier for entry/exit. May even be able to get the wheelchair in the tent, depending on the size and design, too.

Have you considered an awning room?
I decided against a RTT due to our dog and went with an awning and awning room from Roam Adventure instead.
Way cheaper too, about $1,000 for the set up, including 2 cot beds. Also there are awning rooms for RTT

^ This, an annex would be easier to enter and exit, you can setup a cot for her to sleep on and even a portapotty. Edit: my setup is from FreeSpirit.

I do have an RTT, but I don’t have the extended fly. The annex doesn’t include the ladder.
I’ll get the tent set up again with the annex attached and see if that will work. If not, I’ll look at other options. If push comes to shove I guess a different RTT with the extended fly would be doable. LOL I should have done a better job of checking out the options!

Thanks for all the input! This forum is simply the greatest!
