This just pisses me off. Toyota has left us high and dry by discontinuing the (post TSB) left side. Now I have to revert to using the version of headlights that has a defective issue, to the tune of $500. Thank you Toyota!

I bought a set of headlights from rock auto with sport. They are made by TYC. I've had them installed for a few months now and so far everything has been working great. I did notice a small amount of moisture inside the headlight but there are vent caps on the rear of the assembly and after a few warm days the moisture disappeared. Try taking a look at BAM wholesale and TRDshop, these are both oem parts sites.

Thank you for the reference MrTaco. How is the light projection of the lights at night? Does it seem comparable to the OEM's? Not too much light scatter?

I wonder where the moisture is getting in, and if it could be sealed up with silicone to try and stop it. I have read about guys trying to do that.

Obviously the TYC cost is so much more preferable. I didnt mind too much to pay $500 for headlights that were going to resolve the melting issue. But who the hell wants to pay $500 when they may start melting again in a short period - i've seen trucks with 15k miles with the melted DRL lenses.

Unfortunately no one has the -0421 (post TSB) headlights any more, even BAM and TRDshop. They only have the -04173 (pre-TSB) headlights. For reference, EB Toyota is the cheapest OEM Toyota parts site that I have come across - they have the pre-TSB headlights cheaper than both BAM and TRDshop.

i don’t like it either. Ironically I had the pre TSB lights in my truck originally and after 11 years still no issues other than the normal haziness. Still would have rather of been able to put in the TSB light.

I think the moisture is just from humidity in the air. I havent noticed any heavy water inside, just a very small amount moisture that cleared up after a day or two. As for how these headlights compare to oem Im not actually sure how they compare. I never refinished the outside of the headlights on my oem ones so I cant even remember what they were like brand new. I had alot of hazing and general degrading on the outside of the lens just from UV rays and the typical cracked drl lens so when I installed the TYC ones there was obviously a noticeable improvement. The only thing I did notice on the TYC is that the driver side headlight does shine light more to the left of my truck even after aiming them. BTW these TYC headlamps have a little textured square in the middle of the drl light plastic. I would assume that is to prevent the lens from cracking.
