Haha! That actually just came up in my CL search. The SP is the version I’d get if I bought a grom but the markups are crazy! I actually also just saw a sportster locally that’s calling my name too.

Screw their Manassas location too! Offered me $5k for my Ducati Scrambler as trade. Granted Winchester Honda was quoting me $9k, but they really had no idea when they were getting any Africa Twins in stock.

Richmond Honda House gave me $6500 for the Ducati.

I agree. The tubular frame is an iconic staple of the the Monster lineup. Now it looks like every other naked bike out there. Even more reason for me to hang onto my M1100.

no, traded a 2013 Triumph Speed Triple for a 2019 Harley 48. Then traded the 48 for the 2020 Ducati Scrambler. So I bought the 48 and the Scrambler there.

So, apparently it's common practice to advertise motorcycles you don't have in stock. Like, how is that going to please any customer? Just makes me not want to ever do business with folks that can't keep their inventory ads current and... honest. Called two other dealerships that have XSR's listed in stock but no joy...

 

The excuse I’ve always found was “it just sold”. Bait and switch tactic to get you in the door. Common around here (SoCal) where the majority of people are window shopping with no real intention to buy.

I’ve multiple times looked a salesman dead in the eye and said I’m only looking for this model, this year, this trim, this color, this exact thing, please do not show me anything else, I will ask to speak to someone else, I only want to see if you have this specific thing or don’t. To which they almost always respond, well this over here is similar to that (it isn’t) haha. Never fails.

 

Lol reminds me of my experience trying to buy a WRX a few years back. Went to multiple dealerships to look at a specific WRX (used) or a new one (at subaru dealerships). One used WRX at a mercedes dealership, they let me test drive it, then tried to suggest their entry level models. Another subaru dealership, didn't even bother to run my credit or let me test drive a new one, simply told me I wouldn't qualify since I was youngm and tried to put me in a Crosstrek or regular Impreza. I immediately walked out of that dealership, and went to another who was more than willing to play ball, and ended up buying a new one from them that same day.

I guess I was pretty lucky with my XSR, every place I went to either had it in stock, or told me ahead of time that they didn't have it.
