Question about u-bolt

I normally try to avoid my own suspension work as it's not something I feel very comfortable messing with. However, I figured installing Sumo Springs was easy enough so I did.

I'm pretty sure I got everything back right, but it was kind of hard to really see how everything was aligning.

What I'm wondering is, how much of an issue can be caused if the u-bolts are less than perfectly straight up and down? I think it would be hard to get them too out of whack, but is a little off bad? I don't know if my photo helps any, but for reference...

 

They will find there own orientation for the most part... just make sure to recheck your torque at 500miles... and then maybe again at 1000miles.

 

Cool. That's kind of what I was thinking/hoping, but wanted some reassurance from random people on the internet

 

They will straighten out, or what i do is tighten them down, then wack them with a hammer until they are straight and re tighten.

 

I read a post about. Some guy selling some used leaf springs and U-bolts included. Someone pointed out, To not reused the U-Bolts because they get stretch and should be replaced.

 

I've reused the same ubolts many and many times. Heck, on my Tacoma I've had them off and on probably 10 seprate times over the last year. I think they are fine, others may not.

 

It's already been pointed out that it's bad practice to reuse u-bolts, OP did you at least use a torque wrench or just go with ugga duggas?

 

I used a torque wrench. I'm not too worried about reusing them as I'm having new leaf springs installed before long and I'm sure they'll use new ones then.
