I was going to order the 16x8 FN pro wheels

I order 265/75/16 ridge grappler and then saw this on their site.

Can anyone explain why the 265/70 says 7 (8) 9

    while the other says 7 (7.5) 9?

I think that's the width of the wheel the tires were mounted on for the measurements.

    Nominal rim width...
It's the width required to obtain the other specs listed, like section width and load capacity at a certain psi. Might have a bit to due with euro-metric vs LT as well.

It is really important that the tire never be put on that rim, or it may result in....

The tire will fit on the range of size with the 7 to 9 inch rim... the number in brackets will give you the manufacturers measured specs list. Sort of like the ideal rim width.

It’s funny, I was looking at Nittos site

the RG comes in sl or e at 16
And have a c rated for 17 wheels

the payload range was a lb more for the sl on 16s than the C was at a slightly higher psi

is there really that much design difference in sl and c?

    c at 2456 then e jumped to 3415

    10lb more per tire

    Construction differences aside...
    C is 2,470 lb at 50 psi
SL 116 is 2,756 lb at 36 psi

    Tread depth and sidewall construction.
Although the max is 44 psi, load does not increase above 36 psi. Anything above 36 psi is used to maintain the speed rating at maximum payload.

    How much difference in sidewall
    Would you say?

I’m in nc: don’t plan to go over crazy rocks but do want to get into some light off roading so I went with the sl. Should be ok?

    Should be fine...
IMO, if you 'need' LTs, might as well go whole hog and get the E-rated.

    Is LT another term
    For all terrain?
